Really wanted to try this place but no I will never buy anything from here again. My partner and I ordered 1 five pc chicken wing meal with fries and corn on the cob. We also ordered 1 catfish meal (comes with two pieces) with mac & cheese, and broccoli. Let me start with saying, looks can be deceiving. We were told that it would be 25-30 minutes, and they were a little backed up. 30 minutes later and we were waiting on the broccoli to be done which supposedly would take 5 minutes, and was told everything else was already done. That right there is a red flag, because it's strictly a takeout place. So you mean to tell me all of my food (including fries) is done and in a Styrofoam container and I still am waiting on broccoli, the one thing that takes the least amount of time to cook? When you put fries in a Styrofoam box, the longer that they sit, the more inedible they become. They get mushy and eventually hard from not being eaten right away. (Putting them in a brown bag usually preserves them better, for longer and keeps the crunch..) The broccoli took closer to ten minutes to finally be done. We literally drove to the first park, 6 minutes away, right down Jefferson to eat. The fries were completely inedible. The catfish was dry with no flavor, very thin and tasted like it had been sitting in that box for a while. When you make food that is strictly for takeout, be mindful that it has to last at least till the person gets home unless they are gonna sit in the parking lot only, to eat. The broccoli was good, & mac n cheese was good. The corn had some spice on it and the wings also looked and tasted like they had been sitting in the Styrofoam box for a while with not a lot of meat on them. The catfish is not able to be reheated the next day and I wouldn't want to eat it the next day anyways because I feel sick this morning, stomach gurgling and was in the bathroom for a while. My partner was feeling rough an hour after he ate his, last night. Honest reviews are all I write on here so don't shoot the messenger, just passing on the word. Do better & re-up on your ketchup too for...

Wow. I highly recommend all to support this small owned business.

How I Found Them: I had a friend who posted on her Instagram a picture of her food. I commented on her picture asking where she bought her food from and she told me it was ginger berry. I then looked up the place to find in the light that it was close to my place of residence. I looked online at their menu through GrubHub and my mouth begin watering with all of their selections of food items. I knew instantly that I wanted to order food from this restaurant and my mind was set.

Ordering: During this time of COVID-19 I called to place my order and they answered after three rings. There was a pleasant woman on the other line who politely asked me to hold as there was another customer she was helping. She clicked back over in about 20 seconds and took my order. She mentioned that it was cash only and it’ll be ready in about 20 minutes.

Getting Food: The restaurant is located right on East Jefferson and has parking right in front of the building. When I went inside it smells so delightful, that I instantly made a comment of how good it smelled inside. Now this isn’t a food smell, but a pleasant clean smell that I can highly appreciate. I was greeted by a nice lady who asked me what my order was, I let her know, then I paid. My order was ready and bagged up — I was in and out.

Food: I ordered red velvet chicken and waffles and when I tell you I cleaned my plate. The food was so good, it was fresh, and you can tell that they put their time and energy into what they sell. I definitely cannot wait to try other items that are on the menu because my food was literally the best thing I’ve had during my quarantine experience as far as takeout. I was debating if I should write this review but I just can’t get the image out my head. It was my second time eating here. First time was so good I came back a week later to order something different and tipped for the last time I came. I placed my order via phone, arrived 3 minutes later I paid then went to sit in my car. 10-15 minutes later she said she was bagging it up. Remind you I never said anything rude, didn’t have an attitude placing my order, didn’t do anything, I tipped for the previous order I had a week ago so there was literally no issue. I received my food looked in it real QUICK to make sure it was mine then went on about my day. I get to work start eating, I noticed spit! Yes I looked in it at the place but it was very quick, I wasn’t looking hard I was just making sure it was mine plus it isn’t well lit in there either so. Anyway I’m trying to convince myself that it was just hot and it came straight off the skillet into the styrofoam container and so it created these spit like bubbles. But I don’t think it was I believe it was actual spit. It was just sitting in a few spots right on top of the sauce not all over. I looked at pictures on here to see if I was tripping I didn’t see it on their food so I don’t think I’m tripping. The food was too salty so I didn’t finish it but that spit really threw me off. I was really convinced it wasn’t spit after I took a few bites where the bubbles wasn’t at. Plus I tipped and was the nicest so I couldn’t imagine someone spitting in my food. Anyway I couldn’t bring it back because I was at work. I prayed so hard because if it was spit then may God do his thing because he don’t play about me and karma is real...

In all fairness, I wasn’t actually able to order my food. I had read the reviews and looked at the amazing pictures and was super excited to order. After checking to see if they were open, I left my home office and made my way over. I decided on the turkey burger with fries, and then I saw the dreaded sign: CASH ONLY. Huh? In this day and age? A nearby ATM was suggested in the store across the street. Unfortunately, that would have been a considerable inconvenience, plus I got that 2:30 pm virtual meeting, and that would be cutting it too close. Before turning away dejected, I ask if that (cash only) system something they planned to update soon. Answer: it’s been this way for 5 years. Guess I will make an effort to go by the ATM and withdraw cash next time. Moral of the story: BRING CASH! ***Update *** I decided to go back and discovered that it was worth the inconvenience of having to bring cash. The food was amazing! 5+. #supportblackbusinesses

Steak bits cut up in little cubes out of the cheapest steak they could find! Overcooked Broccoli, but the corn on the cob was ok.... you had to reset the system to receive my ONLINE order (which almost had me late for work!), then I specifically asked not to put any sauce on my steak bites and you ignored my request, and over seasoned them! I had to put RANCH on them just to make them edible, and still couldn't finish it. Baby for $25 I could've went to Texas roadhouse and got my money's worth. To top everything off y'all wouldn't even answer the phone in order to rectify the order, as if y'all got a line out the door. y'all knew it was me calling because I called from a different number and you answered. I'm started to believe y'all knew yall gave me a terrible order, but didnt care.....I won't be recommending any of my UAW members to this restaurant.
