This used to be one of my favorite places. I'd always get the fajitas (chicken or three meat) with bell peppers, no onions and no tomatoes. I always add a side of pico de galle as I don't like cooked tomatoes or onions. Saturday I saw that they now sell Shrimp tacos. I placed my order...a shrimp taco, three meat El Fajita with no onions or 🍅 and a side of pico. My cousin went with me...we were both excited to eat one of our favorite entrees. She also ordered fajitas with no 🍅. We were nibbling on chips (love the guacamole) when our waiter (Padro I think) let us know that we could only order the fajitas w/🍅 onion and bell pepper. I couldn't believe it. My cousin and I were a bit perplexed prior to gaining a complete understanding that the cook WOULDN'T prepare our fajitas as requested. He said that he was told to tell us that would chsnge the flavor. I told him I've had my fajitas prepared that way before on more than one occasion. As much as I love supporting local businesses I told him to cancel the fajita orders but I still wanted the shrimp taco. Our waiter disappeared after serving the taco. After waiting about 10 minutes for the waiter to return with the bill I just went to the register and paid for the taco. I gave the cashier my money in her hand. She then put my change on the counter and told me that was my change. I looked at her and she picked it up and gave it to me.
The shrimp taco was excellent but I won't be back. I wish I'd taken a picture of it. To think I was planning to go there to celebrate with some friends but I can't now. I know adults and children with acid reflux who CAN'T eat tomatoes. I know others who can't eat onions. I only want grilled, raw or sauted onions. I hate cooked 🍅 🍅.
I was in such shock that I forgot I could've gone to the restaurant about a block or two further down on Vernor. Instead I drive back to Michigan and road all the way up to Chili's in Canton where the fajitas I PAID for were prepared per my preferences. I will never PAY for food where my preferences are not honored and respected. This is not a five star restaurant. Even then chefs will accomodate reasonable changes to satisfy a customer unless it's a...
Read moreWas my favorite weekend stop. Since the new ownership took place earlier this year. this place has lost its luster, quality in food, cleanliness & terrible CUSTOMER SERVICE. This used to be a Lopez family operated that welcomed you like family, food was delicious & service was great. Today, it’s filled with immature young kids, that congregated at the front podium with no people skills! I’ve worked in hospitality industry many yrs. There’s no such thing of standing around with nothing to do. To MGMT, , allow me to recommend to teach your staff to keep busy at all times. Suggestions, send any available team member to grab a broom, sweep ur foyer, grab some windex, clean ur doors, send a busboy to sweep ur walkway entrance. Still not busy? Have ur waitresses check & clean, fill the table condiments &/or ur carry out stations. Clean & sweep ur dining room after large parties. This stuff is just basic. There’s no reason a customer has to get up to find a server & ur servers should know to be visible at their stations so you’re guest can call on them when needed. I visited on Saturday 9/12/21 afternoon the entry doors were dirty, there were candies & newspapers scattered on the floor in the foyer,, once we walked into the dining room there were about 4-5 kids at the podium talking/laughing amongst themselves, not one greeted us. The hostess return to seat us, C’mon Mi Gente, GET IT TOGETHER!! I drive 20 miles weekly to support local merchants. I’m going to put y’all on time out & hopefully y’all clean up ur place & tighten up ur Team! I may or not return at another...
