Marybelles Caché — Restaurant in Detroit

I’ve been to MaryBelles Cache twice now. The first time I went was on Mother’s Day, of course it was a 2 1/2 hr wait but it was very much worth it. The food was amazing, the service was awesome, & and the atmosphere was a vibe! My second time attending was on a Tuesday which was two days later May13th and it was absolutely terrible. There was no wait, it was 17 of us celebrating my sister’s birthday. The staff knew it was a celebration and was very nice, prompt and polite. However the reason I gave one star for service is because the owner whose name the staff did not provide was absolutely terrible, her disposition was deplorable. She rushed us along, we were still drinking our drinks which consisted of water, koolaide slush, juice and mimosas because we ordered the mimosa tower. She kept asking if we were finished eating so she could Clean the table off. She then proceeded to take our unfinished drinks and started cleaning the tables. She kept coming to clean the tables even though she already done it twice, and it was nothing to clean off. She then rushed us to pay, which even made the waitress feel uncomfortable. She even rushed us to sing Happy Birthday by starting the birthday song off and we had no clue she was about to do that because that didn’t give us time to put the candles or cake topper on. Also, our waitress kept apologizing even though she protected her identity after I made it known I would write a review about my service. The older lady is an African American lighter complexion woman. Who seemed to be about 65 or 70, middle part, natural hair that was straightened with glasses and she walked around the restaurant the whole time overseeing the staff. We went there for my mom's birthday. The food was phenomenal. Our waitress was phenomenal but my son's and daughters table their waiter was not. He was very rude. My son ordered some grits and there was a fingernail in his food, not a clipping, a whole faith female with a design on it which was a ball. The waiter was very disrespectful with my son talk to him about this. The waiter then took the plate back into the kitchen. Showed the cooking stuff and begin to laugh about it and then toss it in the garbage. The owner then proceeded to be rude as well with my son as he walked over to our table. She came over to ask him, What's the problem? As he was informing her about what was wrong, she then said to my son oh I thought you were telling people about what happened and then said we don't take kindly to that . Not knowing that he was coming over to talk to his mother to let her know to check her food. As she was carrying food out to different tables, the food was rubbing up against her shirt. Very unsanitary. Again, the food was very good. The service throughout was just very bad. And for my suggestion, if you're not going to have everything on your menu, you should have two one for the weekends and one for the week. I was referred to this restaurant by my sister telling me the things that she ordered and how good the food was. But when I tried to order these things I was told oh we don't serve that on the weekend. And I also recommend that when you're serving food to a party or to a group of people that you try to bring it all out somewhat close together. Because my food was brought out 6 minutes apart from each dish, some people might receive their food and others had to wait 10 minutes...

This was my first time going to MaryBelles Cache. When I went in, they told me it would be a 45 minute wait and they would text me when my table was ready and that I have to respond within 5 minutes or I would loose my spot. My table was ready in about 30 minutes. It was quite busy and it took the table waitress about 5 minutes to bring the waters, but when she did, she said, "I'll give you more time to look over the menu." I had to stop her from walking away to tell her I wanted to order my drinks while I looked over the menu even though I pretty much knew what I wanted to order. I ordered chicken and waffles and she told me they were out of waffles. Then I ordered the Simple Breakfast with potatoes, beef sausage, toast, and eggs. When my food arrived the waitress that brings the food out said they were still making my eggs and they would be out shortly. The table waitress never came back to check on us while we were eating. I had finished 3/4 of my meal and the food waitress said, "we hadn't forgot about the eggs. They keep making eggs with cheese." I told her that I no longer wanted the egg because I was almost finished with me meal and if I could receive a credit or small discount off my meal. She said she would check and returned with the egg and said that I would still get a discount. The table waitress that took our order walked past and I told her I wanted the check and a take out box. She came back with check and walked away. The discount had not been applied. I asked her about it when she was walking past and she said she couldn't apply a discount because the eggs are included with the meal. I had to request a take out box again.
