I highly recommend the Detroit Segway tour! I learned more on this tour than I did during the 20 years I lived in Michigan. Maureen shared her passion for the art, architecture, and history of the city and showed us all the ways Detroit is bouncing back. So nice to see a downtown city on the rise again!
I am no spring chicken either and felt totally comfortable riding on the Segway (tip: it was a bit chilly the day we went so the gloves, scarves, and sunglasses we brought kept us comfortable). Maureen also suggested a terrific lunch spot afterwards (Slows Bar BQ) that was delicious.
Recommendation: We did The Henry Ford museum’s “Rouge Plant Factory Tour” three days later and it was a perfect compliment to the Detroit Segway tour. Not only did we get to see a view of the Detroit skyline from Dearborn (north of Detroit, where the plant is located), but some of the historic photos at the plant and museum are taken in front of the very same historic buildings we saw up close on the Detroit Segway...
Read moreMy wife and I always look to Segway tour opportunities in any city we visit. We’ve had wonderful experiences in many U.S. cities and Detroit Segway and owner/tour guide/narrator Maureen, continued our enjoyment streak! We chose the ‘Strait to the Point” tour and thoroughly enjoyed the sites and history of the waterfront, Eastern Market, Renaisance Center, financial, the Dequindre Cut, and the many other cultural and historical and Detroit highlights. Maureen knows her Detroit history as well as its’ significant places and key players and guided us on an almost 2-1/2 hr narrated tour on a picture-perfect Saturday afternoon. The equipment supplied from the helmets to the audio headsets and especially the Segway PCs were all in great working condition which only added to our fun tour. We highly recommend Detroit Segway! -Eric...
Read moreLet me say, this was such a great outing for my family! Six of us went because we wanted to try something different. Everyone in my family caught on quickly... except me. LOL. I had a fear of falling off the Segway. Maureen was a wonderful tour guide. Not only was she patient with me (she took the time to make sure I was comfortable and could perform the basics before the tour began), but she encouraged me and made sure I was keeping pace with the group. Her style is very relaxed and informative. She educated us on the history of downtown Detroit and kept the tour fun. I loved it and I’m glad for...
