Black Creek Coffee — Restaurant in Devine

Black Creek Coffee may look like your average neighborhood coffee house, but Black Creek Coffee is anything but! I wandered in with my kids on a Friday morning, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of roasting coffee. The coffee shop was filling up quickly (it was almost 8:30 am) but we managed to snag a place in line and the barista quickly moved through the line, taking everyone's order.

We ordered the Caramel Frappe, Early Bird Shaken Espresso, the Banana's Foster Waffle, Breakfast Panini, and Avocado Toast to share. The Caramel Frappe and Early Bird Shaken Espresso were little bombs of glorious, creamy coffee. The Banana's Foster Waffle was a steaming hot, soft but crispy brown delight covered in caramelized bananas and sauce. The Breakfast Panini with cheesy goodness topped with the perfectly cooked eggs, melted in our mouths. The Avocado Toast was made with wonderfully fresh ingredients and was neatly displayed atop the crisp toast. When our breakfast arrived, our expectations continued to be exceeded.

Each dish was wonderfully textured and full of flavor. The toppings worked together beautifully. Each dish was packed with flavor, and the avocado had a great consistency. By the end of the meal we were planning our next visit.

The building is beautifully renovated on the inside and is quite a surprise when first walking through the door. Even with most tables full, the coffee shop showcased a calm and inviting atmosphere.

(UPDATED REVIEW 5 STARS) In the following visits made to Black Creek Coffee the experience was all the positive mentioned in the previous review. The current experience did not entail all the negative that had previously been experienced with the atmosphere. I did receive pleasant interaction and a perfect brew. Thank you Black Creek Coffee! (3 STAR REVIEW) The staff were very pleasing and the wait time for my coffee was not long at all, and my coffee was perfect temperature and taste. When I came into the coffee shop I asked if it would be okay to be on an audible phone conference for a very important call. The staff stated that there was no problem.

However, as soon as the call began 3 mothers brought in at least 6 preschoolers and did nothing to respect the others in their environment (I had to be on speaker as it was a conference involving another individual with me) We were not the only guests affected. It was very difficult to understand the conference and focus was gone! I realize this was not the fault of the coffee shop per se, but I cannot give the five star review as I don’t feel it is a cohesive environment for those studying or working. I drove through Devine last week for a business meeting, and stumbled across this awesome little coffee shop. Right when I opened the door, I knew I was going to love it. The decor was eclectic, inviting, cozy, and absolutely lovely. They had some great music playing, and offered comfortable seating for socializing, dining, or working. I loved seeing beautiful live plants throughout the space, large open windows for the natural light to shine through, and a community bookshelf with a great selection for all ages.
