NautiMI on the River — Restaurant in Dexter Township

I have had two interactions with the owner of this business that I was less than happy with to say the least and I would like to share the one that I believe is much more significant.

I was a witness to a domestic violence dispute that happened on the property. Police were there and trying to help a women who had asked strangers for help to escape her extremely abusive boyfriend. She was dropped off there by a boat that helped her escape while being chased by the boyfriend. The entire time the owner stood on the sidelines being extremely judgmental, and eventually came up telling everyone they can’t park there and that all of this wasn’t her problem. I understand that nobody would wish to be involved in a situation like this, but I was speechless that someone could be that inconsiderate as a women was scared for her life and finally reaching out for some much needed help. Everyone there was only trying to help protect her while the owner was only worried about herself.

My experience as a customer was great, but when the cards are not in their favor, it is a different story. I genuinely hope that the owner was only having a bad day and that she can learn from her actions...

Very disappointing as this place has good potential, but unfortunately the management is not the standard that is should be. Very unapologetic and try to make it seem like your fault (read the review responses.) They care more about parking spaces then figuring out the situation first. From hearing about this throughout the lake community and from personal experiences it seems as this business only cares about money and not building a good customer service standard on the management part. I will say the staff serving is very friendly and they are professional. They are not the issue. The issue is how management reacts to certain situations that shows customer service is not one of their focal points as a business which it should be as anyone in customer service knows that the customer always comes first. I have so many great things to say! For starters, the owners are so kind and happy to help with most anything! I rented kayaks for this past weekend, we ended up not using one and decided to launch our own canoe. They were very understanding and waived the charge to launch. Later in the day we had a family member switch out their tandem kayak for 1 extra single. They were so accommodating and I cannot possibly thank them enough for being so flexible with our motley crew! All of their treat and coffee items have been delicious 😋 and the versatile souvenir items them carry are so fun! I can easily find fun items for gifts as well! They also play host to food trucks throughout the summer and other fun events year round! Such a fantastic hidden gem we have here...
