Gaston’s BBQ & Beer — Restaurant in Donaldsonville

The absolute WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I’VE EVER HAD! Im new to the area and It was our first time eating at Gaston’s BBQ, NEVER AGAIN! Seems like everyone eats here due to the fact that it’s one of the only restaurants in the area. It wasn’t a wait or line and upon entering no one greeted us! The guy at the bar that was bald at the top of his head and a ponytail at the back was extremely rude to my coworker who placed her order 1st and he was also extremely rude to me as well. We were asking simple things about what we should get on the menu and he was being a total jerk like you want the food or not type of attitude. I placed my order and added a tip (big mistake) and when he brought my food out I asked for to-go utensils to bring half of my food to go and he said “oh I can’t give you to go utensils I have more important orders that needs them!!! I insisted and walked up to the bar to get The to go utensils from him and he threw them at me! He was just so rude we couldn’t enjoy our food! Then once I ate and was leaving out the door he said you have to pay for your to go utensils, and I simply said you are being so rude, but take it out of the tip I gave you! He was purposely trying to get under my skin just a real jerk! It was only towards females from my observation. Oh my God, my experience was...

I ordered the grilled shrimp which was super delicious and season well, no dipping sauce required. The sides were all trash besides the Texas Toast. The macaroni and cheese had no flavor and cheese was crumbly old. The maccoroni pasta soggy and watered down with curds. This Mac and cheese has definitely been recycled for more than 5 days. Worst I had ever had and such a sad thing to sell it in BBQ restaurant. The potato salad was also lacking flavor and watered down. It was stale and old. The greens beans were are terrible. 😢 I almost threw up the sides as I tasted each. We are all familiar old spoiled food! 🤢 🤮

Luckily I only spent $40 via door dash. I was able to get rid of a ginger pain with just two buttered toast and 8 medium sized seasoned grilled shrimp.

I hope I don’t get food poisoning from the shrimp 🦐. Keep yall folks updated. Avoid this place and don’t waste your money. I ordered originally based off the online reviews.

On top of all this my order took over and hour and half to get to me. Mind you my hotel is less than 4 miles away. Was this the cooks debate on weather to send spoiled food or make of fresh or grab from the freeze pile to thaw and reheat.

Terrible just terrible. Would not need this to nobody....

I had the sausage and brisket with smothered green beans and mac and cheese. Everything was delicious. The brisket was melt in your mouth tender. My son had their burger and fries. They were cooked to perfection, and the fries were seasoned perfectly. My wife enjoyed her salmon, and my father in law enjoyed his charbroilled shrimp. All in all a good experience and we will go there again.

So my son asked me to go again this evening. I took this as an opportunity to try some items I didn't 1st time around. I got a cup of duck gumbo and potato salad. The gumbo had a rich flavor that paired well with their potato salad. This is not the kind of potato salad most think of in this area as it has no eggs. The flavor was a bit mild but delicious. I also tried the ribs. As you would expect from properly cooked ribs, the meat fell off the bone. Needless to say, my taste buds were more than satisfied. I am saving my cheesecake for later, but my son said it has a sweet and rich flavor.
