Would've ranked the food higher if we'd been able to actually get the bartenders attention and order more than just one appetizer. Arrived at about 8:45 full well knowing the restaurant/ bar closed at 10. Fully prepared to just order quickly and have a couple of drinks. We were the only 2 people at the bar. There were maybe 4 tables already in process of finishing up. Ordered a drink called the red leaf that was described on the menu as "mezcal, pamplemousse, sour mix and blueberries". What was presented to me had no smell or taste of mezcal, no blueberries, and was filled with muddled cucumber. I cannot eat cucumber as I have a dietetic aversion to it. Eventually the bartender came back over and I asked him about it. I explained it wasn't bad but that I wouldn't have ordered it if the menu had stated anything at all about cucumber. He said they always made them that way and even showed me his spec list as to how to make the drink. He was completely unaware the menu didn't say anything about it. This seems very odd to me at a property of this level. We tried to order one appetizer and were told they were out of it so we moved to our second choice. We were never checked up on at all even though there were 2 bartenders within 6 feet of us the entire time. They were both simply going through their closing procedures and cleaning. Not even looking up or making eye contact. About 10 minutes after finishing our appetizer we eventually had to verbally announce we needed a check. We had been completely intending on ordering an entree but were so annoyed at their lack of service and hospitality that we paid and left. Very disappointing and unexpected at a Ritz-Carlton property. If you're looking for a better experience go over to either of the 2 restaurants on the east beach side. They are pleasant, attentive, and all...
Read moreThis restaurant was probably the worst experience of the trip. This review is not a reflection of or has anything to do with the Ritz Carlton or the property. The atmosphere was great. What is there to complain about with beachside dining with the waves crashing next to you? The service was the only issue. The food was great and also the cheapest price point other than the coffee shop but, if you want to feel rushed and feel like you are preventing the staff from getting out for the day, this is the place for you. We visited twice. Once at the bar and once at for a dining experience to give it a second shot. The first time we arrived at the bar at 8:45. The restaurant closes at 10, or so we thought. The bartenders were basically ignoring us while trying to clean up and get out of there. We ordered 2 drinks and an appetizer, and after we received them, we were ignored. We wanted to get entrées but, by the time we were acknowledged again, the kitchen was being cleaned. This was at 9:30. We grabbed the check at that point and called it a night. The second time, we made a reservation for 7:45. We arrived and were sat at a table and everything felt rushed. The food was great and our waiter was thorough but, while we were trying to enjoy our meal, the staff were rushing to strip all of the tables and essentially trying to get out of there. We waited 25 minutes for the check and realized when it was brought to us, finally, that they didn't accept credit cards. This was not mentioned at any point during either visit, so be prepared to throw it on your room. Overall, it was very disappointing and nowhere near the quality and hospitality level of Positivo or Coa. Stay with the Ritz Carlton restaurants if you want great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEncanto is the perfect example of a casually elegant beach bar and restaurant. Beautiful sunsets, the sound of surf on the breakwater and delicious open air dinning. The service is excellent, like just about everything at Dorado Beach, and the food is top notch.
We ate there twice during our stay this past week and our server "Shari" assisted by Marcos made the dinner a delight.
It's tough not to consider the atmosphere at Encanto when you are judging the overall experience. Simply watching the sunset with a drink in your hand and a trade breeze lightly blowing your hair is a pretty intoxicating appetizer in its own right.
That being said I'd rate the service an A, the food an A and the Oceanside experience an A as well.
When you're at Dorado Beach, make a reservation at Encanto... you won't be...
