We were excited to celebrate my son’s Pre-K graduation, and reserved 2 weeks in advance for a party of 13 kids and their parents. When we arrived we asked to be accommodated in the side where their indoor playground is located due to the amount of kids in our party, and we did not want to disrupt the rest of the customers (the area was empty with no other patrons sat). We spoke to the manager over the phone who refused to sit us on the playground side. Several parents also spoke to the assistant manager on scene and expressed they feared for the safety of the kids because they were out of our sight. The manager and assistant would not budge and stated that the safety waiver for the kids had been signed and it wasn’t their problem. She stated that the table/area we reserved was the table/area we were to occupy. A waitress with an upside down name tag even came and removed our water from our tables. Last time I checked, we were not being paid to eat at Bocas, but in-fact the paying customers. In fact, they even made us pre-order our food before the event date. This type of pretentiousness is precisely the reason food businesses do not make it in the industry. We took our party of 30 and left to Doral Yard where they more than accommodated us all. I sincerely hope the managing partner of the 58th street Bocas location reads this review and understands why they missed out on a significant...
Read moreI am writing to express my disappointment with the service my family and I received during our recent visit. After being seated by the hostess, we experienced significant delays in service. It took 15 minutes for a waiter to approach us, and even then, he informed us that another server would be attending to us shortly. Unfortunately, no one came, and it felt as though the staff were avoiding us.
When we finally placed our order, which included a ceviche appetizer, children's meals, and drinks, we noticed our food sitting on the counter ready to be served, yet our waiter was engaged in conversation on the other side of the restaurant. The ceviche, which was meant to be an appetizer, was served after the main courses, and the cachapa I ordered was cold in the middle, suggesting it had been inadequately reheated from frozen.
The overall service left us feeling unwelcome and as if serving us was a chore for the staff. Given this experience, I regret having chosen this establishment for a family outing.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and make the necessary improvements to ensure better service for future...
Read moreI was a part of a large group (approx 30) for my child’s pre-K graduation celebration. Reservations, to include food selection, were made well in advance. When we arrived, the restaurant had setup our table in the main dining area. However, the children’s play area was completely separate from our table, with no view of our kids. We requested to have our party moved to the tables by the play area, but was rudely denied by the shift manager. The manager said it wasn’t her problem that we couldn’t see our kids because we had signed a waiver for them. To put this into perspective, there are several tables right next to the play area, all of which were available. After 45 minutes of arguing with the manager, she concluded by saying if we didn’t like where set up our party, they would cancel our reservation. As a group, we decided to leave and go elsewhere.
This was extremely disappointing. Not only was the graduation celebration ruined, but the restaurant owner missed out on a significant amount...
