WOW!! As far as first impressions go, this one was uniquely singular and shall remain indelibly imprinted in my brain, to be revisited in my memories for the next half century! Having explored the available eateries within the periphery of my new work location via Maps, I ultimately settled on the GoMRaB for myriad reasons, the most prevalent being that they offered French Onion Soup, which I love. I was certainly not disappointed in that department either! It was glorious even though I only ordered it in a cup and it arrived looking like the full-scale, mini-crockpot version, complete with the floaty toast drenched in melted cheese! Ohh, Yeaaahh...! Accompanied by that treat was a generously portioned salad featuring a grilled portobello stuffed with a variety of Mediterranean veggies, covered with real mozzarella (Not the shredded stuff on pizza!), and a balsamic reduction that I wish there was more of. I will say although I arrived relatively early('bout 4pm), the restaurant Did fill up rather quickly, as did the bar (seats about 15@bar w/some hi-tops), and by the time I left there were parties waiting for tables('bout 6pm). Bar and waitstaff seemed to be interchangeable and sometimes you need to be patient, but the service and friendliness of the staff is definitely above the fold, as was the promptness of food delivery, and their extremely reasonable prices! If that wasn't enough for you, then I might mention that my fellow patrons were quirky, unique, intelligent, intriguing, and altogether friendly towards towards total strangers wandering into their favorite watering hole! If I were pressed for a criticism, I'd say that although the beer selection is varied, it does not reflect enough of the stellar microbrews crafted in that area. I believe Keno and scratch tickets are available, as well as a decent amount of parking spots. About 7-10 minutes from Rte.146 and 15-20 minutes from...

The calamari in the butter garlic sauce was exquisite! Not overly sauced and still had a good crunch to the coating. You can definitely taste that it was fresh, not frozen! The onion rings were heaven and were also freshly made. The sampler and the chicken tenders were amazing! These two apps alone were enough for dinner for two! We then ordered our entrees. Him, NY strip blue and me, steak tips with demi glaze med rare. His steak was exactly how he wanted it, and still had beautiful grill coloring and my steak tips weren't overly powered with the sauce, yet the tips were so tender and I still got hints of sauce and steak taste. Because our apps were so large, I ended up having to take my entree home in a to go box. For my drink, I ordered the fish bowl for one. Loved the Swedish fish in the drink and it was delicious!
All in all, this spot is amazing and we will definitely be going back.....for the calamari...and this time I plan on trying the teriyaki salmon!
5 stars. Totally recommend. Great little ride down 146 and such a comfortable atmosphere. I honestly can not find a single thing to critique to be absolutely honest, everything was amazing here, from the staff to the food, to the setting.
Maybe one thing is it is set sorta back from the road, as I drove right by it even with GPS, so keep an eye out, but once you turn yourself around and go down the driveway and make your way inside, the turn around is totally worth it, especially for that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo this place has great potential, nice little local restaurant and a couple of bright spots but the chef needs to step it up. We visited on a recent Saturday, staff is pleasant and welcoming. The lunch menus were still out and because we were about 15 minutes away from the switch over we asked if we could order from the dinner menu and they were gracious and provided us with the dinner menus. After big holiday meals we were in the mood for lighter fare and went with the fish - haddock with ritz crumbs and haddock with seafood stuffing. The fish was just plain not good, either one. Ritz crumbs were so covered in spices and seasonings that you couldn't taste the Ritz and the fish did not taste fresh. The baked potato could have been baked more and the green beans while seasoned well and were fresh were not crisp tender they were just crisp. The seafood stuffing was an unappetizing blob on top of the fish and while there were nuggets of seafood, overall the dish was lacking. The winner of the night was the braised short ribs - tender and delicious with mashed potatoes and veg left us wishing we had ordered them as well. After the fact we learned the Prime Rib and steaks are done very well here. We will come back for another try and hope the owner will take this critique in the manner in which it is offered, as an opportunity to fine tune...
