I have used Bankhead Diner to cater two events at the church - a Holiday Concert & Luncheon in December and a Lunch-n-Learn on The Holy Land.
The food was a hit each time!!! Blake Guy does a phenomenal job with the food. He brings the food and helps set it out. He is a full service caterer. The food is delicious and the fried okra is out of this world!!! Twice his okra has gotten the best compliment from two different men - “his okra makes me think of my grandma’s okra.”
Blake is always thinking about the customer who is going to be eating the food - it is hearty, warm, and incredibly delicious. He also adds bread so that there are biscuits AND cornbread.
And to top off a Luncheon, Blake personality makes peach cobbler is hot and rich and heavenly. You have to brush the angels away to get to it. The first time I served it it was gone in minutes and not everyone got up to it in time to get some - not because he failed to make enough, it was because people couldn’t help themselves. The second time I served it I added some vanilla bean ice cream to slow down the people taking all of it. It is SO good.
Blake is responsive, he knows how to put a meal together that will not just fill a tummy, it create enjoyment around the food.
I’ve already decided that he will be getting all of my catering orders in the future.
You owe it to your luncheon or dinner to try...
Read moreWe went this past Sunday and was totally disappointed in the food and the service. They told us they were short-handed but other people leaving said no, it was like that all the time.
One waitress told us she'd be with us in a few but, even though she passed by us countless times, she never acknowledged us again. We had to finally ask someone to clean our table off and then ask someone else to take our order and this was after we'd been there waiting for awhile. It might have been different if they were extremely busy but they weren't. There was plenty of empty tables filled with dirty dishes but not people. Several people got up and left because of this. Not a good place.
I ordered a hamburger steak thinking, since it was a diner, I'd be getting a REAL hamburger steak but (to my dismay) it was a processed DRY piece of "meat" that I couldn't eat. My husband got a double hamburger that was 2 DRY processed patties that he couldn't and wouldn't eat. He said the fries were the best thing on his plate and I guess the cabbage was my best. The portions were very small and disappointing.
The prices weren't bad but, considering that we didn't eat hardly any of it, it was a waste of money and time.
We will never,...
Read moreWe walked in and waited while the servers rushed around. A gentleman at the counter pointed toward us to show the waitress we were waiting for someone to either seat us or let us know we should seat ourselves. She looked toward the door but not at us. Finally, another server indicated we should seat ourselves.
We waited for about 10 minutes and flagged a server to order. She said, with order pad in hand that had just been taking orders from other tables (yea, we saw that) and that she would be back to take our order next. Great!
Went up to the front and on the way back, stopped at another table to take their order. They didn't even have menus yet. So, after getting them menus, she came to take our order. Our order was put in over 20 minutes after arrival.
We asked if we could get a biscuit and gravy ahead of the meal like an appetizer. Probably not, because the kitchen was cooking for everyone. Okay, nevermind that then.
Food came out fine but not hot. Server never came back to the table to check on us nor would she make eye contact. Sat with dirty plates in front of us for a good, long time until another server finally took them away.
If you're okay with feeling invisible, this is...
