We had lunch here after an event at the local high school. Apparently everyone had the same idea because it was packed. Our server practically handled the entire room by himself. Thankfully our table was one of the first that ordered lol. A couple items were missing from our order. We had to wait for the spinach dip and I ended up canceling the missing item from my build your own platter (which was fine because I was full). Everything looked great and tasted pretty good overall. My margarita was excellent! The guacamole was amazing and very different from what I’m accustomed to. I’d return for the guacamole alone! The taco was basic and a letdown, but could have been great if they dressed it up more. The highlight of my meal was the chicken quesadilla, which looked nothing like I expected but was very delicious. This was my first visit but other guests said the food is usually better when there aren’t so many people. I look forward to returning during a...
Read moreCame here to eat for Mothers Day today,my daughter and I plus the grandkids! Why did the waitress pass out long stem rose's to the ladies, everyone received a rose except for me and my daughter!! I asked why we didn't receive a rose, and they were clueless, saying that they don't know we didn't get one,I asked for the owner or manager, they said that she wasn't available! And the young waitress was very rude and still didn't give us one..then after I said that I was going to file a complaint, the older lady reached behind the front desk and handed me a rose..so why did I have to threaten to report them and give them a bad review, before I was rudely given a rose, and they still didn't give my daughter one!! I'll never go there again!! I guess we looked to nice for them, that was bogus as hell, the way they snubbed me and my daughter!!Was it because we were the only ones who were dressed up or...
Read moreThis is one of the few decent, true dine-in restaurants in Dumas. The simplest dishes (hard-shell tacos, enchiladas, refried beans are average to above average, but the fancier, more complex dishes such as the street tacos, the chicken and shrimp dinner, the menudo, caldo de res, caldo de mariscos, etc are all excellent. The staff is very hard working and attentive to your needs and are all quite professional. I go there frequently and the staff all know me and they all know which is my favorite booth and what I normally drink. I am not a local and moved here in 2019. Before that I lived in northwest New Mexico for eight years and in South Texas for fourteen, so I am well familiar with the varieties of good Mexican dishes found in the US. This is an excellent restaurant that would do well in a much larger city. I recommend El Toro highly. --Phil Slattery, Publisher, The...
