El Palacio Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Duncan

If I could rate it a zero I would. I have eaten all over Oklahoma in fine Mexican food restaurants and mid-grade Mexican food restaurants. we have eaten everything from the cheapest things on the menu to be most expensive things on the menu. When I saw this restaurant I was tantalized by its colorful building and bright environment in which the staff was pleasantly friendly and seemed to be professional in the beginning. However that changed quickly. After we were seated we noticed that there was not any drinks at on our table for more than 15 minutes. We were served with paper napkins not cloth. There was only one type of salsa to choose from. And the sour cream came in packets. In which we were not offered plates to share ourselves chips with salsa and sour cream. Once we ordered our food and it arrived half of the table was served the other half of the table still waited for another 10 minutes for the waitress to return. At that time she brought the wrong food set it on the table ask no questions and left in which three of our out of our four party had issues with our plates and needed service. We waited and waited and waited. For no one to return finally one of our members got up wandered off for about 10 minutes and returned said he couldn't find anybody to help us with our issues. Finally after the food was brazenly called and everything was stuck to the plate we were able to almost tell somebody else that was not our server what 12 things it was we needed and overwhelmed her genuinely. It was at that time I knew that I was not going to get dinner. so instead of having a bad evening and talking loudly and the restaurant and causing a scene I decided to just casually excuse myself from the table and remove myself from the establishment. as I sat outside conversing with my wife on the phone one at a time members from my party began to emerge from the building not such a good look on any of their faces as they came up to me and divulge the information about how their food was unsatisfactory and that they had never been in such poor performance of service and aptitude of an employee at an establishment that was made for American citizens. it would his it was at this time I returned into the building to have a conference with the owner or manager. we discussed the poor service and the bad food and the way things went in general and I apologize to them that we were an inconvenience to them and that next time maybe we should come in one at a time and everything would be more part to the course. But still yet she insisted that I pay the entire bill. And which I did not feel that we were inclined to pay for non-service or property not received. She was insistent she blamed it on me entirely as that I did not order my food correctly. so instead of causing a scene and having police involvement I just went ahead and paid the bill. I left the waitress a one penny tip on tails on my dirty napkin at my table at the foot of my untouched platewe were served with paper napkins not cloth. Terrible food and terrible customer service. Called in a to go order at 7:50pm, get there to pick it up at 8:20pm and the doors are locked!! We stood outside and knocked on the door and no one came and they are supposed to be open until 9:00pm!! So we called and NO ONE answered! So we banged on the door again, finally a man opened the door and we asked if they were closed already or something and he replied with well yes because we don't have any customers in here??? He said did u have a to go order? We said yes and online it says your open until 9 and repeated the fact that there were no customers so they closed early?! He let's us in to get our order we leave get all the way home and one of our burgers is completely raw and uncooked!! So we AGAIN called back at 8:52pm a rude lady answered and said El Palacio sorry we are closed! Mind you it's still not even 9pm! We told them our food was not even cooked and she told us she could cook us another one tomorrow!? Are you kidding me? Absolutely not! We wanted a refund she said well we can give u a refund for the burger only lol!! The customer service is a joke and awful! The food is delicious, therefore we regularly order takeout! I love the Chili Relleno and my husband likes the catfish. However, at our last dine in experience there seemed to only be one waitress, but there were about 6-8 tables with guests. We and those around us had to wait for our needs most of the meal. I was a former server for 10 years, so I can understand things being hectic. What made mine and my husband's jaw drop was when we put in our meal order, we also ordered a meal to go. After we were done with our meal and had waited for our ticket and to go order more than a reasonable amount of time, the server came up to us and asked if we were ready for her to put the ToGo order ready in. My husband and I looked at each other mind blown! As a former server, I would have put the to go order in when I delivered the dine in guest's food to the table, then I would have time to have it bagged by the time they're ready to go. Not after they had already finished and had been waiting a bit to leave! Are you kidding me!?
