I love the atmosphere here. Today was my first time here, only stumbled upon it because I wanted some BBQ and deviled eggs and was surprised to find this hidden gem recommended on Google. I never knew about this place and I was very excited to try it.
The cashier greeted me with a smile as she took my order and even offered me some sample chili. She was very nice and welcoming. We had a great conversation and I asked her what made her different from Chaps BBQ, she told me that this is a family business. Me, personally, could already feel the love that they put into everything so I could see what she was saying. A male family member/employee came up and we also talked about the business and from what I can see this is a family that really cares about their business and making sure that their customers are taken care of (even when i thought i messed the vibe up from asking for clarification on my receipt, it was handled professionally and not taken personally), also keeping that beautiful smile and welcoming spirit. You don't see that too much often anymore. And I'm not saying it in a narcissistic way this 100% positive,
The restaurant is mid sized and spacious so that you can sit down and enjoy the food if you want. The open atmosphere and the pull in side lot and the colors kinda gives an old-school diner type of vibe. Altogether, it's a good place for the whole family, kids included.
Today I got the corned beef and ham combo sandwich with grilled onions and a side of deviled eggs. The grilled onions set off the other flavors in the sub. The sub roll was soft, fresh and chewy. The only thing (me personally I'm funny when it comes to my meat, lunch meat included, I always order mines shaved) the meat was cut a bit too thick for me and I should have asked for it well done (another personal preference for how I like my meat). Other than that the sub was pretty good. The deviled eggs were cooked and presented perfectly. Again a personal preference, (I like mines on the sweeter side) and they weren't sweet but they were seasoned and if you go home you can sprinkle a little sugar. I've done it with some places Teas and potatoe salad before so no biggie. The black bottom cupcake was fresh and it hit the spot.
Overall this was such a good experience that I want everyone in Baltimore to know about them and come support this family business so they can grow and flourish! If you want to go a step farther, get their name out to Keith Lee.
Though smokehouse style food, they have a nice variety of some delicious selections. Even their hand-cut French fries and grilled hotdogs was looking good on that menu. You can get something new everytime. They even do a thing where they will make a specialty dish once a week and they will cook Indian dishes if requested too.
So there is no reason to not stop by Smokin' Joe's Grill and see what they...
Read moreSo picture this: I’m biking to Smoking Joe’s Grill, stoned out of my damn mind, like "are the trees whispering?" levels of high. Every turn felt like a side quest. I swear I had to convince my legs to keep moving with motivational speeches. But we made it. Victory.
I ordered a pit beef cheesesteak with coleslaw because my brain said “meat... now,” and my equally fried friend went all in on the BBQ ribs with mac and cheese like it was his last meal before teleportation.
The cheesesteak came out looking like it was ready to fight hunger and my will to live—it was huge. But the bread? Man, it was just... there. Like it showed up to the party in sweatpants. Didn’t add, didn’t subtract. Just existed. The coleslaw was a little chaotic—felt like I was chewing a cabbage jungle. Could’ve used a knife. Or a lawn mower.
Now the ribs? Fire. Tender, smoky, made my friend do a happy dance in his seat. But that mac and cheese… bro. No flavor. None. Zip. And then outta nowhere, BAM—aftertaste of dish soap and black pepper. Like they seasoned it with regret and a splash of Dawn.
All in all, 6/10 if you're high, 4/10 if you're sober, 10/10 for the journey getting there. Would I go back? Probably. Would I bring my own mac and...
Read moreI was seriously in the mood for a burger, a very rare occurrence since plump, juicy, well-seasoned burgers are so very hard to find. After reading the reviews for Smokin' Joe's I decided to pass up Texas Roadhouse, The Seahorse, and all the other Dundalk restaurants that supposedly have the "best burgers" in order to give this small local establishment a chance. After all, those places usually are the best, right? I have to say... I was a little underwhelmed. As the reviews said, the burger was absolutely GINORMOUS! So much so, that i halved the patty horizontally to be able to eat the fixins', the burger, and the bun all in the same bite, but that was the only truth told in the Google reviews. That had to be the biggest piece of unseasoned, flavorless beef I've ever had! Seriously! I've had frozen veggie burgers with more flavor than that! Helloooo, Impossible Burger🍔❤️ I'm talkin about you! The black-bottom for dessert was decent, but way too small to charge $2.25. I guess you get your $7.75 money's worth for the size of that burger, but bigger, unfortunately, isn't always better. Alas, the Google reviews got it WRONG this time and I'll stick to my home made...
