I have been going to this restaurant for many years and in the past, it was very good! Lately, I feel they have gone down hill. We went back to see if it was getting any better in quality.
They offer 3 sizes of chimichanga. I ordered the largest chimichanga at 3 or 4 dollars more than their "normal" sized meal. I wanted to have leftovers for lunch for hubby the next day. My husband ordered the normal size chimichanga, and a friend ordered the smallest size.
When our meals arrived, my husbands regular chimi was larger than my exlg, and my chimi actually matched the size of the smallest chimi my friend had ordered. I asked the waiter about the difference, as he could clearly see my confusion with all 3 sizes supposedly sitting in front of me on the table. He advised, "The only difference in the EXLG chimi is the larger tortilla." So, I paid $3/4 more for a 2 inch larger tortilla? Plus, they didn't even fry the chimi's! These were "burritos," imo.
Whatever... as we were out with friends and I wanted to enjoy the company. I even ordered flan for dessert! I almost gagged when I was served a plate of congealed phlegm with berry sauce and whipped cream!
Sorry, but this restaurant is in need of some major improvement. We will not be going back to "try" to like them again.
I failed to take pics of the chimichanga's. But I included their version of "flan" and a pic of MY homemade flan, so you can see what it SHOULD look like... it should be creamy, velvety and covered in rich caramel sauce (yes, mine does need a darker caramel, I know. Working on my sugar technique, lol!)
The margaritas were good though! That is why I...
Read moreAfter years of coming to this restaurant, eating both in and out I have never written a review regardless of how poor and rude the service was. I don’t know how many times we have ordered for pickup (with a bill ranging from $70 to $100) and how absolutely frustrating it is to get home only to find out that the order is wrong and there is missing food items. Usually I tell them to credit me for the future, but every time I go back the credit never seems to be on file. This time however, an entire entree was missing so I opted to drive back to the restaurant and pick it up, knowing that the $70 worth of food at home would be ice cold by the time I got back unless I remove the food from the metal containers to plates in order to heat it up again. Which defeats the purpose of ordering out. When I got back to the restaurant, instead of just giving me the missing food I was questioned by the manager about checking my bags thoroughly. The manager basically accused me of stealing two tacos because according to the kitchen and waitstaff they had made the tacos and put them in the bags. After a short discussion I ended up getting the tacos. I also ended up needing some extra cheese and rice for my now cold food at home. You would think because of the trouble I had to go through to retrieve my missing tacos they would have just given me the cheese...nope! I got charged almost $3.00. This will be the last time I will be eating at this establishment. I hope it was worth it El Molinos....On The Border here I come! Oh and I forgot to mention that the bugs by the front are really gross... maybe they...
Read moreIt's been so long since I've been here; my mom and I would aways go here with my grandparents when they were still alive, or we'd order for take-out if they didn't feel like making the trip to come. Whenever we'd go, I'd always get the same thing as my grandpa, but when I got older I started to try new things. I always enjoyed my meal and the portion sizes were perfect. My grandparents knew some of the people that worked there and one of the cooks would always come out to say 'hello' to us if he was working; he used to ride at the same farm my mom and grandparents rode at. In one part of the restaurant is a Western saddle on display and my grandparents were the ones who gave it to them; you're welcome! My grandparents had been going here for so long that they remember when the building was expanded on; it used to be smaller and you'd have to wait forever to get a table if it was busy. The last time we had food from here was sometime in 2013 before my grandma passed away ((which was early 2014)), and I enjoyed my meal a lot! I really miss coming here and if I'm ever in the area, then I'll be sure to stop in!
I have been here before with my friend, who's African American and Hispanic, and she loved her meal! I went here with my ex once and again with one of my other friends and his mom. My friend loved the description of the burger and just had to get it! He...
