Unfortunately, I have to write a somewhat negative review for what was once our go-to Thai place. We always order Volcano Chicken. It was homemade using real chicken with the sauce covering it. Their sister restaurant Thai Cafe also had the same dish. It was not the frozen sweet and sour chicken nuggets you get from their competitor a mile up the road or from every Chinese place in America. We haven't eaten here in months, but apparently they've gone the way of every other Americanized Thai and Chinese and also now use the cheap mass produced fried chicken nuggets and have the volcano chicken sauce on the side for dipping. I could have made that at home on my own. Everything was separated in the to-go Styrofoam box (they nixed the plastic containers apparently). The veggies were bland, the sauce was oily, the chicken portion was small for what we use to get. Sadly, we will not return again. Now I'm wondering if Thai Cafe also decided to cut costs and quality and ditched real chicken for...
Read moreI decided to get my Thai fix at Thai Star today since I had errands in the area. I haven't been to this place since it was Thai Lanna so I had no idea what to expect.
Interior is nice and the employee I interacted with was friendly. The sanitation score was 92.5. It's still an A so I tried it anyway.
It was lunch time however the dish I wanted was only available on the Dinner Menu. My pad see eww chicken takeout order took 10 to 15 mins to prepare.
For dinner order, it was smallest container I've seen. It was likely a lunch container and it was not full. For $16, I expected more. Maybe there's the penalty for ordering off the dinner menu at lunch? There wasn't much dark soy sauce and there was very little wok hay. The flavor was okay but you could see from the color of the noodles something was missing. It needed more sauce.
The combination high cost, small serving size and lack flavor of flavor will keep me from returning. I really how what I got wasn't the...
Read moreReally delicious Thai food found here! It's worth braving the construction and the traffic if you love Thai food. The Service is friendly, the restaurant itself is clean, and the food is tasty. I ordered my two go-tos on my first visit (Pad See Ew and a Thai Iced Tea) and neither of them let me down. What's more, our kind server warned me that I would end up getting the dinner portion since they didn't have a lunch portion of Pad See Ew on the menu...it was going to be a lot. Oh darn, with broad flat noodles and a sweet soy sauce this good I definitely did not mind taking some home. The Thai tea was good too, very sweet as you expect, but you can still taste the tea. What's more, you can get boba (tapioca bubbles) in it if you like, so if you're riding that craze you can get it with a delicious meal here!
Definitely looking to come back for more. This is a great place for friends to meet, or for a working group to come out...
