A Perfect Morning Stop in Charming Duxbury
We found French Memories on a quiet, crisp morning while driving around Duxbury, reminiscing about my husband’s childhood. He grew up on Driftwood Road, and as we passed by his old home—a super cute Cape Cod-style house his father bought in the late ‘60s for just $35,000 (now worth a staggering $1.1 million!), I could almost picture the memories he described. We saw the ponds where he skated, the bridge he once jumped off, and even the golf course where he spent so much time.
But the highlight of the morning? Stumbling upon French Memories.
We had just dropped off our six-month-old puppy at Angell Memorial Hospital in Chestnut Hill for surgery, leaving us with several hours to pass before we’d know if we’d be picking him up that night or the next day. We needed a warm, inviting place to relax—and French Memories was exactly that.
Walking in, I ordered a double espresso latte, and my husband got the same. We couldn’t resist the fresh cinnamon rolls from their beautiful pastry display, and I’m so glad we didn’t—they were absolutely divine. Soft, warm, and delicately sweet, they practically melted in our mouths.
We grabbed seats at a cozy high-top table near the window and sipped our coffee while watching the morning routine of the locals—a mix of friendly faces, relaxed conversations, and a clear sense of community. This isn’t your typical coffee chain experience—if you’re looking for something beyond Dunkin’ Donuts, with a touch of European charm, this is the spot.
Stepping outside after breakfast, we took in the picturesque surroundings. Just beyond the bakery, there’s a lovely view of the marina and the water, making it a perfect place to take a stroll. The combination of excellent coffee, delicious pastries, and a charming coastal setting made this an unforgettable morning stop.
If you’re ever in Duxbury, French Memories is a must-visit. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this bakery offers a warm atmosphere, amazing food, and a glimpse into the town’s charm. We’ll definitely be back!We were driving...

I can’t say enough how sad I am to say French Memories has gone down hill. I stopped in here for coffee with my now husband before getting engaged on Duxburry beach. After moving away I’d make the two hour trip back once in a while to grab coffee and walk the beach.
I wasn’t aware it trades hands. My husband and i went back in March and we both noticed it just didn’t taste the same. Our drinks, the croissants. We shrugged it off. Then we stopped in again today while in town for work. Our drinks were atrocious. I knew immediately it had to have changed hands. And yes, saw the report from 2024. So disappointing. Feels like an end of an era.
One of my top destinations when I lived in Norwell.
The cafe mocha cant be replicated anywhere else. It's the perfect blend of coffee and chocolate.
Their baked goods are also impeccable. I go for a croissant- super buttery and rich, light as well. Even their glazed donut is quickly becoming my favorite.
The Lovely young ladies at the counter are always super attentive and ask if you've been...
Read moreMy husband and I were driving around the east coast south of Boston on President’s Day and stopped at Duxbury, which seemed so quaint and picturesque; most businesses were closed but this bakery was open. We went in and ordered a cappuccino, an iced coffee, a chicken panini, a ham & cheese croissant and four petit fours. There was not much on display, I guess because of being a holiday, but there were a few pastries to chose from. Their food and drinks were delicious and fresh-tasting; the croissant was so fluffy and soft, the ham and cheese not too salty and of good quality; the panini packed with sizeable chunks of tasty grilled chicken, cheese and fresh tomato ; the coffee drinks were quite flavourful and just right. But the petit fours…they were divine. Each, a bite-sized work of art. This bakery really surprised me, especially since there are so many famous ones in Boston (North End, I’m talking to you) which products people endlessly queue for and are in no way nearly as good. I will...
