They need to update their hours listed online. Based on the other reviews and my experience last night, they are no longer 24 hours despite the hours they have posted.
Around 11:45 PM we decided to get some fast food. Since it was late at night, Wendy’s was one of our only options since it is listed as “24 hours” and at least used to be 24 hours. So we hop in the car and head for Wendy’s.
We arrive at Midnight and while pulling in, we notice their drive thru lights for the menu is off. I didn’t think much of it because although seldom, there’s been a couple of times in the past where they closed their drive thru early and I had to go inside to order food. So I skip even trying the dark drive thru and pull into a parking spot.
After gathering everyone’s order, I head for the door. As I’m approaching the building I notice through the window that there’s no signs of life inside Wendy’s. There were no workers in the kitchen, no customers sitting down, and they had their entrance that leads to the gas station blocked off with two garbage cans. The door was locked and it was now confirmed that they were 100% closed for the night.
I trot back to the car, dumbfounded on why they were closed when they still have their store hours listed as 24 hours. Nonetheless, we sat in the car for 10-15 minutes trying to figure out if there was any other food place open at that hour of the night. While we were in the car we watched 6-7+ different people pull up and try to go inside to get Wendy’s. All of them sharing the same fate of walking back to their cars after discovering Wendy’s was closed.
Ultimately, we decided on Dennys which was across the street from Wendy’s. Dennys was booming with people dining in. This is pure speculation, but I would bet a good chunk of the people came after discovering Wendy’s was closed. I say that because two of the cars that we watched try to get Wendy’s after us, did the same as we did and went straight to Dennys.
I want to keep this review as clear headed as possible, but my only vindictive comment is the past couple of times I’ve gotten food from Wendy’s, I’ve thrown out the fries because they were cold, soggy, and greasy (almost wet?). For the price of their food and how they advertise “fresh and hot fries”, I’d skip getting a combo from this location unless you’re prepared for cold fries.
To wrap this review up, it was disappointing to make the drive to Wendy’s and see they were closed before midnight (since there was no one inside at midnight which meant they had been closed for at least a little while). Especially when they advertise being open 24 hours. You’d think they’d be open later on a Saturday night, since they are connected to a truck stop, and for the amount of people we saw after us trying to get food. Thankfully Denny’s was open and...
Read moreSince my family and I were traveling with a young toddler, we decided to stop by this Wendy’s for breakfast due to its proximity. We didn’t want to spend too much time searching for a place to eat, and we wanted our son to have something quickly.
There was only one breakfast option available that didn’t contain pork, which was surprising—especially considering the variety most places now offer. That said, I don’t usually eat out often, as I prefer preparing my own food, Alhamdullillāh, so I’m not always familiar with what’s on the menu at places like this.
The server was very polite and genuinely seemed eager to help, though I found it a bit funny when she didn’t seem to realize that sausage and bacon are both pork products. For clarity: I understand bacon can be made from turkey or other alternatives, but when it’s not specified, I assume it’s pork. So when I asked if they had any non-pork breakfast options, she responded with, “You can do the bacon,” and I was like, “That’s pork,” and she smiled and said, “Oh yeah, that’s pork.” I don’t hold it against her—she seemed young and friendly—but Wendy’s should consider offering more non-pork options and providing better training in this area.
We ordered the chicken and honey biscuit, and I asked for honey mustard on the side. The chicken, to me, seemed undercooked, and the honey mustard had a very strange smell—almost like kerosene, Subhān Allāh. My family and I couldn’t bring ourselves to eat it.
We also ordered some drinks that I thought were healthy options based on their names (similar to the fruit-based drinks you might find at Chipotle), but they turned out to be extremely sweet. Even after adding a good amount of water to dilute them, they were still too sugary for us. But to be fair, my family and I don’t really have a sweet tooth, so others might enjoy them more—Allāhu Aʿlam.
In the end, I gave the service and atmosphere a three, mainly because the young lady at the counter was kind, polite, and sincerely seemed to...
Read moreFull disclosure here, I worked in the fast casual industry for a time so fast food reviews are something near and dear to my heart. We arrived at the Hebron Wendy's a couple hours into a cross state road trip, exhausted and hungry. I ordered off the so called "value menu" although I found my total food investment exceeding "standard menu" patrons not as frugally minded as myself.
Let me take a second to talk about the decor. Engaging in some quick research before selecting this Wendy's, I found this location had recently undergone a full renovation and the dining area didn't disappoint. Picture a cross between a Starbucks and an Apple store, if you can imagine such a space sharing a wall with a Pilot Travel Center full service truck stop.
My order was ready after some delay, causing me to question the operating definition of "fast" food. The Junior Cheeseburger Deluxe was well broiled and the staff took some real pride in the presentation of what I can only assume to be locally sourced lettuce, tomato, and onion toppings. The Spicy Chicken Go-Wrap stood out as a minor disappointment. With the recent price hike of this value menu standby I expected a commiserate increase in product quality but was sorely mistaken. You expect the chicken to be balanced by an equal portion of lettuce and freshly shredded colby jack cheese. Here, the chicken was lost in a sea of tortilla and a molten mixture of cheese and ranch dressing. The lettuce, which I found so delightful on the burger, was hardly present.
Overall the experience was satisfactory, but ultimately forgettable. Experiences like these put into perspective the rise of "fast casual" as the go-to alternative for patrons craving well prepared food, balancing an ever expanding waistline against an ever shrinking billfold.
