I wanted to take a trip to LJ's, in Brenham, because a friend recommended their awesome BBQ. Nothing really worked out like it was supposed to and as we got out on the road we realized that we weren't going to make it there on time. I had read that Austin's was a really good BBQ joint so we made a detour to give it a try. My wife, kids, and I arrived with semi-high expectations. We were fairly disappointed. All of us ordered brisket and sausage, and had sides of green beans and potato salad (there weren't many choices). Our brisket was ok, but drowned in a not very good BBQ sauce. I assume it would have been a decent brisket without it, but we'll never know. The sausage and sides were also ok, but fairly disappointing considering our original destination. I would rather stay in town and get BBQ from Rudy's or Pappas, which are about in the same price range but not as far of a drive. I would probably have also enjoyed a Buc-ees chopped brisket sandwich, which is right next door, more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to visit everything I had the chance with my parents, my Grandparents lived there. I loved their sausage and ribs, I believe it was the Brothers that ran it at the time. I went to School with Dwayne and Denise when my Dad was overseas, that whole year I enjoyed the weekends because my Grandpa would always plan to have this one of a kind sausage. I have traveled the whole world being in the Marine Corps, whenever I went into a country who sold sausages with their meals. I had to reach so deep into my imagination that I was chowing down on Mr. Austinās sausages, but as usual I couldn't reach that deep and it was more a nightmare taste than what I was hoping for. I did my 32 years in my beloved Corps and I do plan to stop by soon from California and visit Austinās again. I truly miss that taste of good BBQ from Austinās. Iāll see you soon Dwayne and Denise if you are still running that...

On way back thru town Thursday I did the same. When paying out, it was $3 more than the day before. I asked why and was told it was because the cost of sauce on the side...was told by the bi#ch at the register that that is how they did it. I told them to put it on the sandwich...I could eat it messy for 3 bucks. Said I would not be back...again the bi#ch said they would not miss me. Adios. Food may be good, but the hired help can cut the attitude and for that they...
