Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in East Brunswick Township

I ordered the chicken tenders, and let's just say they were ​everything but 'tender​.' They were so thin; I thought they were auditioning for a role in a Chicken Tenders Thin Edition movie. These poor tenders seemed to have spent more time under a heat lamp than I've spent binge-watching my favorite shows. I suspect they've been rehearsing for a Broadway show called 'The Longest Roast.'

The tenders were so overcooked that I'm pretty sure they broke a dental floss record. These tenders were so dry, I felt like I was participating in the Sahara Desert Eating Challenge. Even the ketchup refused to accompany them, probably out of sheer self-preservation. If you're into poultry jerky, these are your golden nuggets.

And don't get me started on the Mac and Cheese; it was like the forgotten sidekick in a culinary tragedy. It must have also sat under a heat lamp for a considerable time, trying to achieve the perfect imitation of a cheesy brick. If I wanted my mac and cheese to be this 'aged,' I'd ask it for...

I was looking forward to Popeyes as I enjoy it near my home as a treat. This location is at a rest, stop with other restaurants near it. When I ordered the food, they did not have many menu options, like the fish sandwich. I ordered the chicken tenders and ghost pepper, pepper, bacon, and cheese chicken sandwich with a side of mac & cheese. It was all not fresh. The mac & cheese was watery, the chicken tenders seem to have been sitting under the heat lamp for a while, and the chicken sandwich was not crispy. Cheese was old, and the sandwich itself tasted old. I would not suggest going here. I regret it and should have gone to Shake...

I was feeling for some chicken while on the turnpike headed north. Stopped in at the Joyce Kilmer service area as the sign showed Popeyes. I knew that the price would be a bit more because of the turnpike, so it was not an issue.

I proceeded to place my order, the cashier charged additional for my drink. When I told him that it was a combo, the drink was included. He informed me that the combo DOES NOT come with a drink. Upon closer inspection of the menu board, I noticed that they had covered the "drink" wording in the combo meal.
