I really want to like this place - local business, fresh ingredients, cozy feel. I've been to both locations - the one on Rte 1 is more like a deli counter - a quick grab and go for breakfast or lunch. The location on Rte 2 is a cute log cabin and does have more seating and is more inviting to eat-in. I've had their curry chicken salad sandwich, and stuffed grape leaves, which were delicious. I felt the need to write this review, however, because I was pretty disappointed with the salad I got from their Rte 2 location today. It was listed as a special on the board - mixed salad greens with butternut squash risotto balls, maple sugar (or syrup) vinaigrette, with toasted pumpkin seeds and goat cheese. Sounds pretty good! I ordered the salad special and the girl at the counter asked me to wait while she asked the guy in the back making food if they had all the ingredients for the salad. Odd, but OK. So she came back and said they did, and then told me my total - over $11. For a lunch salad. At a small town cafe. No, I didn't get a drink or side. Yikes. But I thought, OK, this place is really good; it'll be worth it.
I got the salad to go and didn't take a look at it until I got home, but I otherwise probably would have given it back to the kitchen. Much of the lettuce had started to wilt, and besides the lettuce, some shredded carrot and a couple (literally 3) grape tomatoes rounded out the vegetables. The risotto balls were OK, but had cooled and were a little chewy. It turns out they didn't have all of the ingredients after all, because those toasted pumpkin seeds listed on the board had been replaced with sunflower seeds. The best part was probably the few pieces of goat cheese on the side. Not quite the gourmet salad I had been expecting, or...
Read moreWas going to visit a family member at a nursing home. Asked her what she would like and she suggested this place. When you walk in, there are bagels, pastries and breads of all kinds on the counters and another case with additional breads and goodies. I was helped by Kaylee, who was polite, kind, professional, friendly and knowledgeable in all the items offered. She obviously loved her job, as she was wonderful from the moment I entered. Looked at a menu and asked her if I could make up my own sandwich or if I had to order as listed on the menu. She said order however you like. Got a grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce and mayo wrap and an Italian on ciabatta bread, hot. Ordered both sandwiches with the homemade chips. The wrap was packed with meat. Blew my socks off. It was just so good. The homemade chips are the bomb. I was told the Italian was also very good. The place has seating inside and outdoor seating for the warmer months. I give this place 5 stars all the way. Kaylee, you are a gem and canât thank you enough for doing what you do so well. I will...
Read moreWent in for the first time today. Was excited to try this place as itâs super close to my work. Ordered 2 iced coffees and 2 breakfast sandwiches. Coffees came pretty quick, tasted decent enough, just basic iced coffee nothing special. However, we stood waiting for 20 minutes before one of the staff said âlet me check on that for youâ. the staff in back looked completely clueless about our order. It took another 10 minutes before we were handed our order and when we got to the car they werenât what we had ordered. We ordered the sandwich of the day, a JalapeĂąo Cheddar bagel with sausage, egg, cheese, peppers, and caramelized onions. The bagel was subbed with an everything bagel without asking/telling us, the peppers were hardly cooked, and the onions were just charred onions not...
