They are the best! Coffee is really good! I placed an online order only to realize my bus wouldn't fit in their driveway and the barista was kind enough to run it out to me!
So I'm going to have to edit my previous 5 star review, just based off of the managers attitude alone. I'm not normally on that side of town in the morning and I don't normally have a 30+ minute layover between my routes. Since my experience a few days prior was so stellar, I called ahead to make sure it was ok if they can run my coffee out to me one more time as my bus cannot fit in their parking lot. After the person that answered said it was not a problem and that they can do that, I placed my order online. After I got the text that said my order was ready, I pulled up to the side on Ensign street and waited. I gave them a ring and they said they would be right out. That's when the manager called me back and said there is no way they can let their workers risk hurting themselves to run my coffee out. Mind you the distance from the front door to my bus was about 15 feet. She asked me if I could pull into the lot and again explained to her my vehicle would not fit. She kept saying she can't have her workers running across the street and again I explained I was not across the street, I was on Ensign next to the door. I didn't expect a free service they don't normally provide, I tipped $5 on a $5 coffee. The level of hostility I was receiving as if I asked the barista to traverse the Sahara to deliver my coffee was absurd. Even McDonald's has no problem parking you and running an order out. The only coffee place in town that can accommodate our vehicles banned them because their new owner just had the lot repaved. I've been a customer of Rebel Dog since this location opened. I won't be back. I still appreciate the 2 workers who were willing to go...
Read moreIf I could give Rebel Dog Coffee Co. 0 stars I would. I was very excited to see one was opening in East Hartford and finally got to go in today to have a terrible experience. The first girl who helped me was lovely and sadly I did not get her name but she had nice blonde hair. I ended up ordering an iced matcha latte and avocado toast. I didn’t end up liking the matcha because it was too watery and could barely taste any matcha in it. The girl who was new said she would make things right so I got back in line and the other server who was there “longer than her” who was a brunette told me I had to pay more to get matcha or another drink despite me explaining I wasn’t too satisfied with how it was made. I only took a few sips, my drink was still full. As someone who is a manager in customer service the way she handled the interaction was terrible and should go through training again. I am very understanding and do my best to make sure my customers have a lovely experience when they come to my establishment. Going to new coffee shops around the East Coast is something that gives me much enjoyment. No coffee shop has ever given me such a difficult time with correcting an order because in all honesty it’s not a big deal at all. It felt like a personal vendetta. I hope she learns that being compassionate and understanding gets someone far in life. I ended up tossing out my matcha due to it being watery and did not eat my avocado toast because my bread was over cooked and dry. To the new girl, keep being the kind person you are and don’t allow people to taint your heart, I know you’ll be great in...
Read moreThis place has so much going for it, but the staff leaves a lot to be desired. While I was there, four people were behind the counter fooling around, looking at pictures on their phones, gossiping about customers, and chatting with someone seated at the counter - all while food sat in the window waiting to be served. My eggs Benedict arrived barely warm. I had to cover one half with a napkin while I ate the other, just to prevent the A/C from cooling it down even further. It was tasty but would've been much better if it wasn't just barely lukewarm. Another customer's toasted sandwich sat for at least six minutes before it went out. I don't know about you, but if I order eggs or some kind of toasted sandwich, I want my eggs hot and my toast pretty warm. Plus the young man working there could only carry one dish at a time - and when he brought food to a table near me, his fingers were on the lip of the bowl! I mean, touching the food. I worked in restaurants and catering for over a dozen years and that is a major no-no for any server to do! Someone please teach him how to carry dishes! Or get trays for serving parties of more than two! And why is ordering brewed decaf - which is on the menu - such a hassle? "Oh, we don't sell enough decaf to brew a whole pot, but we can add hot water to a decaf espresso." Sorry, but no. I had to tell them to make a pour-over. And it wasn't anything to write home about. Geez, just make a damn pot of decaf like it says on the menu! I don't need the excuses. Very poor, inattentive customer service here,...
