I try to give places two chances if the first time wasn't great. Especially, if it just happened to be a bad day. And of course, I'm usually right about my experience.
The first time I went ( June 2016) for just drinks and appetizers on the patio. My two friends and I waited patiently for our drinks and apps but we were not a priority. We finished our drinks and had to find a server to order more. But it took too long so we just paid for our bill and left. The appetizers were ok. Bacon wrapped shrimp was ok.
The second time ( June 2017) I went with two other friends and we sat in the patio again. It wasn't really busy that Friday night so I figured the service wouldn't be super slow. We ordered special house drinks ( pretty cheap, $6 & under) which were light on alcohol. Ordered boneless chicken with garlic parmesan. When it arrived it was more like fried chicken balls with a little garlic salt and parmesan sprinkled on top. My gripe is that I ordered the mac and cheese and it comes with a side Caesar salad for $7.99 ( the menu says it comes with it) but when my bill came it was rung up as $6.99 mac & cheese $3.50 for side Caesar salad. Irritated, I didn't bother to say anything since our server rarely came by to check on us and it was good.
Tip: if you're going go serve people and not write things down you should really know who ordered what instead of handing plates and dishes to whoever. Server was only quick to come collect our checks.
Good honest, service makes a difference. Won't be back there unless it becomes a new restaurant or...
Read moreLet's start with the positive: the building is beautiful and the patio looks very promising. We tried Black Knight Tavern last night for the first time. Tuesday was all-you-can-eat crab leg night. We were pumped! The crab was delicious with a really nice flavor. Nice beer list.
Now let's get real: The service was awful. Perhaps the business strategy to avoid high cost of all you can eat night is to simply ignore the customer. Over the course of two hours, we saw our waitress four times. NEVER offered to get another drink. Heaven forbid we were given actual napkins to deal with a messy meal (even though we asked). We got one refill of our crab legs, but then, again she went to the apparent black hole in the other room. Never got anything we asked for- napkins, butter, another drink. After waiting 20 min to catch a glimpse for our check, we ended up yelling "hello" out to the other room because disappeared again. Ultimately we took the bill to the bar. I always tip, and tip very well because wait staff work really hard. This time...$2 was left, mainly to round the bill out. We debated even that.
Also, one bathroom, one for a big bar, dining room and patio area to be shared by ALL patrons, men and women. ONE. Might want to think about that as well. If we do come back, it'll be just to try our luck out on the patio...and I'll probably wear...
Read moreWant to give Black Knights zero stars instead of one. A friend and I went there Thursday May 31 and was very disappointed. I had a salad and chicken quesadillas and my friend had filet mignon dinner. The waiter didn't come to let her know the vegetable medley was out and asparagus was being served and the filet was well done not medium as to what she ordered. She asked to have a filet made as she asked, medium, pink in middle and waiter had another put in but didn't take plate back right away. The second filet took long to come out and when it did it wasn't a filet mignon because it was very flat and looked to be a sirloin. The owner/manager brought out plate and when questioned she didn't have much to say and seemed to drop off plate and run. Did not appreciate her not want to be bothered attitude. When asked the waitress about it isn't a filet because so flat her reply was chef found thinnest filet and pounded it down. You do not pound a filet, period! It was sirloin not a filet. After the complaint of filet they all seemed to ignore us. They did take the filet dinner off bill as I requested but their service is poor on...
