I'm sure many of you don’t know this, but in a past life, I cooked professionally in a number of restaurants—some of them rated four stars and above. I only share that to make one thing clear: I don’t play about food. I may not be what you'd call a bougie eater, but I am particular. Sharing good food is one of my love languages.

So let me tell you about today’s unexpected delight.

After dropping my son off at work, my stomach made it clear I needed to eat—expeditiously. I found myself down off Buffington Road, unfamiliar with the area and unsure of my options. Thank goodness for Google: I spotted a place just a mile away with a 4.8-star rating. That alone piqued my interest.

Now listen—do not let the unassuming location fool you.

If you’re searching for authentic, flavorful Jamaican food on the Southside, this is it. Hands down, better than anything I’ve had in the Atlanta area to date. And yes, that includes the spot my Jamaican friends swear by.

I ordered the pineapple jerk chicken with rice and peas and a side of cabbage. I always taste my vegetables first—and let me tell you, the cabbage was seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection. Tender with just the right bite, and full of flavor. Then came the chicken leg: juicy, richly marinated, and wrapped in that bold jerk flavor. While I tend to love all things hot, the spice level here was balanced just right—enough heat to satisfy but smooth enough for any...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jerk Causin Restaurant and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff and the ambiance of the restaurant was inviting. I decided to try their signature Jerk Chicken and I was blown away by the delicious flavors. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and had a nice kick of spice that left me wanting more. The portion size was generous and the presentation was impeccable. I also sampled some of their sides, including the plantains and rice and peas, both of which were equally delicious. The plantains were caramelized to perfection and the rice and peas had a nice savory flavor that complemented the Jerk Chicken well. Overall, dining at Jerk Causin Restaurant was a delightful experience and I will definitely be returning in the future. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Jamaican cuisine in a...

DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE. I just had one of the best meals of my life at this humble little Jamaican spot—and I mean everything was on point. We got the pineapple jerk chicken (a masterpiece), regular jerk chicken (smoky and tender with just the right kick), plantains, green beans, cabbage, and rice and peas. Every single bite was incredible.

It’s not fancy inside—you’ll get your food on a styrofoam plate with plastic utensils—but it is immaculately clean, and you can tell they take real pride in what they do. Caribbean music playing on the TV adds to the relaxed, welcoming vibe. Five stars for atmosphere, because heart and care matter more than tablecloths.

I don’t live anywhere near this place, but I’m already figuring out when I can come back. Worth the drive. Worth the...

Went here on late night hunger hunt. I actually thought it was a sit down restaurant. It is to-go only by the way. So to get to the food...The food was amazing! My bag was soon heavy with food. I ordered brown stew chicken, macaroni, and cabbage. Slamming! My husband ordered pineapple chicken, extra plantains, and the same sides. I tasted his....Slamming. We had so much food we could not finish it all and had leftovers that reheated even better the next day! I had the opportunity to meet the owner, who is really nice, he said I would enjoy the food! He didn't lie! Thank you my friend! Swing by check him out. You won't be disappointed!

This was the best Jamaican food I’ve had in Atlanta coming from Up North honestly. But oxtail to be almost $40 and to only get 5 should be criminal lol. That’s what takes my stars down to 4. This is a non-aesthetic food spot offering authentic flavors and overall good quality food. But the price is off-putting and semi out of touch for the location. Taste was there 100% but this was a $30 max platter. They need a new oxtail plug so we can continue getting the amazing authentic flavor for a better price. Honestly I’d go back regardless of the price because of the flavor but it’s not frequently, $40 for 5 oxtail is more of a splurge.
