I eat here all the time with my roommate & my kids...in fact, I can't believe I've never written a review!
Started going here about 5 years ago… My roommate's sister used to clean kitchen hoods and highly recommended this place for its cleanliness BEHIND the scenes (she definitely couldn't say the same about several other restaurants in the area…). That was enough for me!
The place is immaculate...the service - & servers - are top notch (people come and go in the restaurant industry but, somehow, Anthony's always seems to hire people that "feel" like they've always been here) and the food is excellent. Salad bar's always clean, fresh & well-stocked. Homemade soups are the bomb.
I've probably tried every single item on the menu and - with the possible exception of the eggplant Parmesan - the food I have ordered has been high quality and well prepared. Even my roommate - who's a cook himself and routinely puts down other restaurants - has nothing but good things to say about the food here.
Are there a lot of old people? YES! Because old people are generally on a fixed income and recognize a good value when they see it. But there are also a lot of young families here as well.
If you've got lots of money and like to piss it away on places with a fancy atmosphere & small portions, you have plenty of options. But if you're looking for an honest place that's got excellent food in a clean atmosphere with friendly and efficient service - all at a very reasonable price - you simply can't do better than Anthony's. Hell... Even the former dishwasher had good things to say about this place! ...

We, my family and I, just came home from "Anthony's Family Restaurant" in Willoughby, Ohio, and learned one thing, finally: beware eateries that have many options on the menu!
I ordered the roast beef and I swear it was warmed lunch meat. The edges were too dark and the cut was too thin for a "family restaurant". The potato "pancakes" were nothing more than lightly cooked hashbrowns. Anyone with even a hint of middle to Eastern European decent knows what potato pancakes are about. My wife ordered the wienerschnitzel and that was a joke... I didn't laugh. The gravy tasted bland like a store brand. And when the waiter said they were out of dinner rolls (before dinner) I asked for a bonus pancake instead and he replied sure... he came back and said "we found some." Rolls I mean. Where the hell do you "find" rolls? Well, suffice it to say we didn't eat them. I wanted to walk out. My inclination was to write I found a tip on a quarter but my wife insisted I didn't make a scene. Anyway, the salad bar was post-apocalyptic and the soups were bland at best... the broccoli cheese soup was mostly flour roux. I have much experience with "family restaurants" and they are all pre-made garbage you can buy and make at home for a fraction of the price. Pass on this mess. And remember, menus that are too big to read in a few minutes are too big to be fresh.
If you enjoyed this review or agree with the premise let me know. If there is an audience for it I will make a you tube channel and sacrifice my guts to review "family restaurants "... yuck.
One flush out of five!
Enjoy...
Read moreMy dad and I came here for lunch today after I got off work.
We chose to come here to try here again. One time we came here, and got the ribs which he wasn't happy.
Now our server was very nice, and friendly. They were absolutely fine.
I got the chicken finger dinner, and my dad got their fish fry.
He really liked the soup he got, but our meal was just ok.
I was expecting my chicken fingers to be better quality. They were the cheap Tyson brand ones that you get in elementary school which don't look like real chicken.
I love chicken fingers, and I was rather grossed out. Especially when the the chicken fingers were $15 dollars. I should of gotten better quality chicken.
He got the fish fry which was okay, but the homefries weren't that great.
When it came time to pay the bill was $40 which is rather alot for the food we got.
I'd lower the prices it's over priced.
Sadly this being our 3rd time here l, and not being happy with our food. We...
