Alas, my love affair with Corfinio is over. I have been to Corfinio many times, but on the last occasion, it was shoddy to say the least. Initially I had headed out to have Sunday brunch elsewhere, but they were too busy and were not accepting any one else on that day. So, we went to Corfinio, and much to my chagrin, it was a complete disaster.
It was 2 P.M. and the restaurant was mostly empty, it wasn't busy at all. The hostess seated us at a table and never gave us any napkins nor silverware. We sat for a while without menus either. The server finally came by, and brought us stale, dry cheese for the olive oil cheese dip. When I put the grated, parmigiano reggiano cheese in the olive oil it just sat there like bits of pebbles. When our server came back, I told her our cheese was stale. She took it away, and brought us grated cheese that one would put on a hot pasta dish. I could clearly see that she was flustered and I didn't want to make her uncomfortable. I followed our server with my eyes as she approached the manager, who then headed to our table. She asked us if everything was "all right". I told her how the cheese was too hard, and how our server brought us grated cheese and not cheese for the olive oil dip. She apologized and began to take our orders for lunch. Before she left, I said to her would it be possible to have some hot tea. To which she responded, "I can only do one thing at a time"! Now, I didn't expect her to hop over and bring my lunch and tea at that instant: I just simply wanted some tea when she had a chance. We had been sitting there for a while with just water, and our server never bothered to ask if we wanted anything other than water to drink. I made sure that my tone of voice was not demanding. I was quite pleasant considering that they did everything wrong from beginning to end: No napkins, no silverware, no menus, and a server that was very discombobulated. Once the manager said that to me, I lost my appetite and couldn't stay there anymore. I got up from my table and headed to the hostess podium, and I informed the manager that my party would be leaving.
I will not be returning to Corfinio. It saddens me a lot because I truly enjoyed it there all the other times. A note to the management: If you are insolent to the customers, they're not going to patronize your establishment. Would you want someone to say to you- "I can only do one thing at a time", when you know full well that any one of us can only do one thing at a time.

Read moreWe were going out for our anniversary and wanted to try something different. I was a little concerned about going to this establishment with some the mixed reviews online as well as in person. My wife truly wanted to try it, so I said sure let's go. Absolutely without question the worst dining experience we've had in at least five years... The only thing I could compliment them on was our wonderful waitress who seemed fairly new, but was beyond helpful and friendly. We ordered two appetizers that just seemed thrown together on a plate. They tasted ok, but looked like a fast food presentation. For our meals my wife ordered the breaded veal with a lemon sauce pasta. Beyond horrible! The veal had absolutely no taste at all and could barely taste anything on the pasta. My order was the bolognese over wide pasta. Mine came out med warm at best and was just an average meat sauce that maybe goes with chop suey. Certainly not anything that resembles bolognese that you should expect at these prices. My wife finally just said to the waitress how horrible her meal was. Our server couldn't have been more attentive and apologetic and asked if she could get my wife anything else... We then proceed to order her a spinach salad with seasoned chicken. At this point the manager comes over to our table like a true professional and politely apologizes for the inconvenience and let's us know he will have her meal expedited as soon as possible... True pro and certainly an asset to this establishment.... My wife salad is delivered promptly by the manager, who once again apologizes. As my wife proceeds to start eating her salad, she looks at me in amazement and says the chicken is more bland than the veal and is so rubbery she couldn't even chew it. I tried it and could only laugh about the quality of the food that had been presented to us considering they have no problem charging higher end prices for their so called upscale meals. Which I have no problem if the product matches the quality you should expect for that price... I'm not sure where the problems at this exist, but most certainly if they dont seriously address them and I mean soon, not really sure how long they will be around. It's too bad, because the ambience and location are great, but you can't only charge for atmosphere. I truly wish them well in their endeavors, but would never recommend it and also would never return... There are far too many restaurants these local areas that charge similar prices and produce a far superior product and not just a...
Read moreOh Corfinio, I want to like you so much but after three separate visits, I can honestly say that they'll probably be no more.
I've had pre-pandemic dine-in and takeout visits and can say that at no point was I ever wow'd by any of the food or the service there. Corfinio's charges relatively premium pricing for their average-at-best Italian food. The ambiance inside is nice but ultimately none of the dishes seem to have been perfected.
Take their Parma pizza ($17) for example which has raw prosciutto on it. This dish would 100% benefit from the prosciutto being cooked. Instead you try and take a bite and it just slides right off the slice, hanging down from your mouth against your chin. Which is a shame because their dough is actually pretty decent (although it could be slightly crispier). Their sausage & mushroom pizza ($16) nails the flavors and dough but the ingredients were very unevenly spread. Again, those small details is where Corfinio's frustrates me oh-so-much.
Takeout is another example where the details aren't always great - I arrived smack on when my order was estimated to be ready - and when the hostess handed over the food, I couldn't help to notice that my pizza was lukewarm at best. Small details matter and I just feel like this place has fell short multiple times on those small details.
Ultimately I genuinely believe that the only reason this place is still in business is because they do have a nice bar. And their location is awesome. And there's just not much competition around. If you compare to Amelia's in Stoughton, which is a few miles North, it's a world of difference and you'll find that Amelia's nails everything that Corfinio's wants to be doing.
Except for the soups which are $10 a pop, no appetizers are under $13 which screams premium to me. Speaking off, there was a surprise 3% upcharge on my takeout order but with the rising prices of takeout containers due to the global shipping supply issues, that makes sense but it would have been nice to have...
