Irie Ital dreams do come true at @dajeneats p.s. My mouth is still watering days later. So much awesome to review here it's ridiculous!!! Dem say presentation is EveryTing, well yes but ya muss have flavor to back it up or else...Me No Want It! Bless and Big up to this, #Vegan Nubian Queen Chef Jenn for bringin' tha mad Jah-Macian soul food flava to Eatonville, FL. One thing I miss about New York is all the diverse foods, Florida is sorely lackin. However, Chef Jenn transported me back to the isle of Manhattan then to Jamaica and back to Florida with this awesome inspired Caribbean food.
So 1st when I walked in I was greeted with a smile and dem phrase "Wah Gwaan" I and I already felt right at home and Chad gave me the menu run down. What you see before you above is the ABC lunch plate which has 3 Proteins Jerk Chickn (outstanding Jerk Spice) Crispy Chickn (hard to get Setian crispy but they did it with flava too!) Buffalo cauliflower (nuff said) Grilled Pineapple slice to balance the spicy zing Cabbage salad Lemon wedge atop a bed of Rice I was so hungry everything else was so good I ate it before I could take pictures of it! The second thing I ordered was called an identity crisis sandwich. They call it that because if you can't choose between the proteins they offer...they put 2 on one! This sandwich was built on homemade bread sliced Texas toast sized which they then grilled to toast for the sandwich. I inhaled it...it was a amazing. While slobbering over Chad's shoulder watching the bread being slapped on the grill as I was ordering the sandwich I saw out of the corner of my loaves of the bread stacked in a bread case. So I asked "do you sell those?" Chad said "Sure you want one?" I was all "Hell yeah!" Haha
I then wandered over to the vegan ice creamery case and a sistah with a smile said "Would you like to try anything?" To which I replied "Ya the whole case!" I got the chuckle I wanted.🤣 She was sweet enough to let me try 4 flavors. I settled on the Mango crumb something something flavor...was creamy as all get out and bangin! Finally for me an authentic Jamaican meal isn't complete without Sorrel punch to wash it down with. Don't be a crazy Baldhead get your butt over @dajeneats today! Praise Jah for Jenn and her stellar staff for bringing #Vegan greatness to Central...
Read moreI will not be back until I hear that the people who work here feel happy and listened to. The workers of Dajen eats (@notsoirie , on IG) have spoken up about the negligence and mistreatment bestowed upon them via Dajen Eats. They worked in unsafe conditions, were clocked out for breaks they never took, tips were managed shadily. The “soy free” vegan meat from “house of chicken” (NOT made by Dajen eats) was fried in soybean oil which led to a people becoming sick, this type of negligence is not okay. The “house of chicken” chicken had dairy ingredients in it too, workers noticed and let Chef Jen (owner of Dajen) know. According to workers, she brushed this off and changed the subject.
These workers are not out to harm Chef Jenn. Their posts are sad, and they all seem to wish that Chef Jenn didn’t force them to quit and speak badly about her. They tried giving her many opportunities to change the path she carved. These are not people looking for publicity. I encourage all fans of Dajen to listen to what the workers of Dajen have been saying. (Ps- my review is only the tip of the iceberg. I do not work here and never have. I am merely sharing information I have seen online and hold to be true.)
I hate giving one star to a black owned vegan business, and I hope that Chef Jenn makes a LOT of changes in management of this business and especially in how she has been treating...
Read moreDajen eats is one of the most incredible vegan restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. We went for Sunday Brunch, so this is based on their brunch options- but based on how incredible it was we will absolutely be back for their lunch and dinner specials. Their Sunday Brunch menu had a few different options that all looked great, but I got the Jerk Chicken Biscuit, and my partner got the buffalo chicken biscuit. We shared the Jerk fries, and after our meal we split a double scoop of the Cookies and Cream ice cream. We were practically silent our entire meal because it was so good we didn’t have words. The biscuits are crisp on the outside and appropriately soft on the inside- I couldn’t believe they were vegan. The chicken was well seasoned, and flavorful. They were filling without making me feel overfilled or heavy. The fries were crispy and completely covered in a few sauces with grilled pineapple added and vegan sour cream and chives on top. After our meal we opted for the vegan l cookies and cream ice cream and I’m enjoying it while writing this review. It’s so creamy with a great consistency, it’s light and soft. This is some of the best vegan ice cream I’ve ever had. Thank you to Drew and the very friendly and helpful staff, they were all so kind and friendly. We can’t wait...
