During our drive to North Dakota, after seeing some amazing reviews online we decided to stop at Jay Ray’s for some sandwiches.
We were absolutely delighted with the food, as well as the service. We had the pleasure of meeting Brian and Ritchie, and it was very clear that they care greatly for both their food and customers. Friendly conversations, extremely fresh ingredients, and some of the best deli sandwiches (and cookies) we’ve had!
We went with Brian’s recommendations of the Italian Beef, The DeNiro and The Karen. The beef was just as good as something you’d get in Chicago (which makes sense since that’s where Brian and his brothers are from!). The DeNiro and Karen were just as good in their own ways. It would seem you really can’t go wrong with any of these options!
It’s no surprise that this lovely little place has been going strong for six years, and I’m sure it will be around for many more to come. We’ll surely be back anytime we’re passing through the area.

Read moreI dont really review things but I just had to for Jay Ray's Deli. If I eat out, a lot of times its a sub sandwich and I usually go to erbs and gerbs. I also have an erbs and gerbs app on my phone so when my wife brought me a sub from this place a mile away from my house, I was willing to try it. MY GOD!!! The Jay Ray was phenomenal and I'm recalling the flavor a week later today! Today I had the DeNiro and my mind was blown a second time. What seemed to be just a pastrami and provolone sandwich on the menu turned out to be a magical spiced meat journey where (again) all the flavor melded together to give me perfect harmony between all the ingredients. Needless to say, if I want a sub sandwich for lunch, I know where to go:...

These sandwiches have layers- like the De Niro - Let's break it down: First is that slightly sweet bread - but it doesn't stop there, No. Next comes the lush aperitive garlic aioli that slightly percusses your mouth with a piquant snap. Then there is the brooding mountain of pastrami that the Romanian government would consider as weapons grade nutriment. Provolone cheese comes next as a silky smooth smoky blanket on top of that meat. Finishing it off is a helping of pepperoncini's that is even too good for the best Italian antipasto.
Let me tell you - the experience of biting into this holy hoagie is...
