Famous Subs — Restaurant in Edenton

Small mom and pop eatery with great potential. It took 3 of us about 15 min to get our food but the meat on our subs and wraps was hot from where they had just cooked it. The chicken on the fajita chicken wrap was cooked perfectly it was large and fat like a burrito, which was awesome. Strangely, the menu also had Italian food on it such as spaghetti. They have fountain drinks with tea and a water tap for those like me who avoid soda and also don't like tea. They gave me a free water cup which was nice. This restaurant also has small restrooms. There are 3 reasons why they only get 3 stars. The first reason was that they were out of salad because of a late truck delivery that hadn't arrived yet. The second was that they had a sign on each door that said "Cash Only". Lucky for us we had enough cash on us. The third reason was that the chipotle fish sub I ordered comes with grilled tilapia according to the menu, however when I got my sub it had fried tilapia on it instead. I would say the prices here were fair at less than $10 per person for most of what was on the menu. This is not the kind of place where you have to leave a tip because there is no waiter, and the drinks are self serve. The cashier did bring our food to the table which was cool. This was a neat small scale eatery which I would like to visit again the next time I drive...

The 1 is because the lady was super super nice, that is until I found a long hair entwined in the meat and cheese of my Philly Cheesesteak. When we took the sandwich(with the hair hanging out of it)back up to the counter, the woman said it was a piece of meat that was cooked too long. Then she started speaking in what I believe was Spanish, I was honestly too upset to pay attention, to someone in the kitchen. She then said they weren't sure what it was but they could make me another one(I THINK NOT!!)...at that point she offered another meal. We chose chicken which you can clearly see a hair in and that was horrible. It was dry and the pieces were tiny. Overall a horrible and traumatizing experience. Like I said the lady was nice but she should have just refunded me my money and def not tried to lie about the hair. Would not recommend. I placed a telephone order for 3 subs this evening and specified the turkey sub would be PLAIN. When I arrived to pick them up, I immediately noticed that their prices were significantly higher than those shown on their website and suggested to the cashier that they update their website. Unfortunately, she just brushed it off. Once I got home, I realized that the plain turkey sub had lettuce, mayo and tomato. Accidents happen. I called and they agreed to make a replacement sub if I would return the incorrect one. Sadly, the replacement sub was melted turkey AND cheese. I give up. I won't be back. Just not the same place it was under...
