Caribou Coffee — Restaurant in Edina

I'm originally from Edina and frequently use this location due to its convenience. Today, I ordered a coffee and, during the tip process, politely asked the employee to extend the payment device out a bit further so I could reach it more easily. Her response was a deep, noticeably exasperated sigh accompanied by a look that clearly communicated annoyance.

I asked her calmly if I had somehow offended her and even apologized after tipping, despite feeling taken aback. Her only response was, “I don’t know,” said while making direct eye contact, as if the context of my concern wasn’t clear.

I understand that anyone can have a bad day, but this behavior came across as openly disrespectful. For someone tasked with handling customers, basic professionalism is expected. If that level of composure can’t be maintained, perhaps this is not the right position for her.

On a positive note, I did call the location and speak with the manager, who was extremely kind, professional, and responsive to my concerns. I really appreciated that.

However, I’m still left feeling uncomfortable about the experience. These are the kinds of moments that stick with customers and ultimately lead to negative reviews or lost business. My local reviews have over 150,000 views, and I take that reach seriously.

This Caribou location is newly opened, and the format is a little different (new concept, maybe?) anyway, the fit and finish of the decor is recognizable, but different, with just a little more polish, without formality. The service and quality of product is always very good, guess my one qualm (there aren't many faults one can find, with this regional chain, they do things really well), with their new locations is it takes some ramp up time, once they are open, to make some of the drinks in par with Caribou's high standards. My usual is a vanilla cappuccino, those are difficult to make well, it is usually several months b4 enough people can make it well to have a consistent experience. They are always quick and easy with the correction, but you were in the drive thru and had to come back, let me tell you, not fun. All in all this is a great addition to an already...

This is the new one that just went up. So far everybody is very polite and helpful. only downside is just like Starbucks they are unable to figure out how to put a driveway in where it does not obstruct normal flow of traffic. If you're heading over here be careful what time of day you come. The traffic jam can get very ugly because of the left hand turn. Which is sad, because this actually could be one of the better caribous. another thing to note is that there's very little parking. Is roughly about 7 to 12 spots. But again you very prone to getting a fender bender due to how it uses the same entrances for the drive-through which also uses the same entrance on the traffic.
