Love this place. John Tanner highly recommened it. So I drove down there from Bluemont, VA. Made my day. This is real, honest, authentic BBQ. Smoked on wood. Made with care and time and a lot of effort. It's not done fast in an oven inside. It's done outside, open to the elements like God intended good pork to be cooked.
Their coarse chopped pork has my favorite texture. Not fine-ground, machine stirred stuff. And definitely not RUINED by being mixed with sickly sweet sauce like almost all pork BBQ north of NC is. Nope. It is pure pork. If you want sauce, then by all means choose one of Bean's many sauces. I actually put some of my NC vinegar sauce on it. But just a little. If you want it plain, eat it that way. I have thrown away so many pork sandwiches made in Virginia and north from here, which were smothered by somebody's idea of how to improve pork.
Beans lets the meat and how well it has been smoked and cooked, speak for itself. Thank you--Bean!
And the SIZE of Bean's BBQ sandwich. Easily enough BBQ in it for tomorrow's lunch as well as today's. Hell, I even pulled some out added more to Bean's beans! Which they don't need any more of, because they are already loaded with porky goodness.
To my BBQ sandwich order, I also added a small side of slaw, and small side of beans. Holy camoley: their sides are each a meal in themselves. I thought their must have been a mistake in the order, and rechecked the description on the menu. Nope. I got zackly what I ordered.
I tell you what, I think I am gonna call Elon and see if he will drill one of his Boring Company tunnels from Bluemont to Edinburg (under the Shenandoah River to bypass I-81), with a return tunnel back, but with a dogleg to my cardiologists'. I can see how Bean's is gonna start to become a fatal addiction.
Damn you, Bean's. Damn you! (On second thought, if you liked everything I wrote above, just ignore it. I don't want yall getting there ahead of me.)
PS: Did I mention that Bean's is right next to the fly shop owned by Harry Murray, nothing less than Virginia's main Academy Award winning fly fisherman? I didn't? How could I have missed telling you that. So. Now. Two reasons to go to Edinburg that you didn't have when you got up...
Read moreWe had the joy of having Beans BBQ and Catering serve at our daughterâs wedding, and they completely exceeded every expectation. Kristi and her team brought not just food, but hospitality, heart, and unforgettable flavor to our special day.
The appetizers set the tone beautifullyâguests were welcomed with a stunning spread of cheeses, fresh fruit, an elegant antipasti display, and the most delicious hot and cold dips, paired with freshly baked sourdough and artisan crackers. It was visually stunning and absolutely deliciousâtruly something for everyone.
Then came dinner, and wowâwhat a feast. The garlic teriyaki-infused tri-tip was tender and flavorful, and the sweet and sassy BBQ grilled chicken was a hit with every guest. The sides were just as incredible: the twice-baked cheesy potato salad was comfort food at its finest, the brown sugar baked beans had just the right touch of sweetness, and the garden salad was fresh and vibrant. Every bite of grilled garlic bread and those soft artisan rolls (with real whipped butter!) felt like an extra little hug on the plate.
But beyond the amazing food, it was their service that made all the difference. The team moved with grace and professionalism, making everything feel effortless for us and joyful for our guests. They truly served with heart, and it showed in every detail.
Beans BBQ didnât just cater our daughterâs weddingâthey became a cherished part of the celebration. We will forever be grateful for the way they nourished our bodies and our hearts that day. If youâre lucky enough to book them, know youâre in...
Read moreIf someone would have told me that one day I would be eating half a rack of pork ribs on the hood of my car in the middle of December and loving every minute âŚ. I would have not believed them. But there I was âŚlicking the BBQ sauce off the hood. Come hungry because the food is great and the portion sizes are huge. Staff is friendly. Service is quick. This is not your usual bbq. To order here you need to plan for it! Here are some tips from a local on how to order Check their Facebook page often because they are so good and popular that they sell out of food quickly. They update Facebook throughout the day on what sold out. You know the food is good if they keep selling out. Plan ahead! Call them a day ahead or the same day early morning and leave a message (name, order, call back number) or call them and speak with someone on the phone to order ahead. If you left a message someone will call you back to confirm your order was accepted. Yes this place is worth every hassle. Itâs that good! Do not plan on eating at the restaurant. They do have tables and chairs but if they are about to sell out they will close early and you wonât be able to sit down. Lots of parks and benchâs nearby. Itâs a beautiful area. Bring cash or personal check. No credit cards. Lots of places in small towns only take cash so this is no big deal. Donât forget to try the sauces! Grab some sauces from the...
