Sal's Italian Bistro — Restaurant in Edinburg

Waitress with dreads did not have a name tag. Her customer service was fair, however, the tabletop and booth seats were covered in sticky and greasy substances. The waitress brought out bread and a bland oil with garlic (absolutely no flavor) and the oil which generally is olive oil to pair with bread tasted like a vegetable oil. The restaurant was not busy whatsoever, in fact, I was the only table seated. The food came out with a little long of a wait for being the only customer. I ordered Bistro Mare which had bitter and overcooked whole chunks of garlic, was supposed to come with shrimp but did not, I had two mussels that were not fully cooked/unopened, and the scallops were left with the foot on them. My companion ordered a dish that was specified as having a garlic and white wine sauce with fresh tomatoes, but came out in a marinara with no fresh tomatoes or white wine. Both entrees had pools of oil sitting on top of the red sauces extremely unappetizing. Two dishes made incorrectly priced at $11.95 each, one coke with lemon priced at $2.50, one water with lemon and 20% tip cost $35.12... I personally will never eat at this restaurant again. Not...

September 2025 Excellent meal as always. Great service. Welcoming atmosphere. Calamari appetizer was awesome as was salad, rolls, and Diavolo spaghettini pasta! And the chianti wine. Can't wait to return!

March, 2024 Sal's Bistro is now open for lunch! Same welcoming proprietors who also serve as waitstaff and chef! Great food. Love the warm rolls with garlic olive oil, crisp salads, excellent sphaghettini!

2023 Back again. Such a warm inviting place. Gracious staff. Excellent salads. The calamari remains spectacular! Canolloni is a great choice. You can't go wrong with the "create your own pasta" creation options!

2021 Great homemade Italian meals in a cozy setting. Homemade soup. Delicious pasta ( especially the gnocchi) Specialties --match with a variety of excellent sauces of your choice. The Gypsy sauce with mushrooms fresh tomato black olives and artichokes was especially delicious.So was the funghetti mushroom sauce. Let me start by saying I rarely choose Italian restaurants for dinner as I am usually disappointed but Sal’s came highly recommends by our airbnb host and WOW ❗

I selected to create my own dish I had gnocchi in a blush red sauce “Russian”with sundried tomatoes it was delicious .

My husband had the pepercorn NY strip with penne in a au poirve sauce He said that it was crack” so good!! He just wishes it was trimmed a little more .

My 8-year-old had children-size penne with pesto sauce devoured it and said it was the best pasta he has ever had and I did not get a picture lol we ordered a full-size order to go it was so good.

My little one opted for mozzarella sticks and fries and even that was made we'll.

We did not have a resrvation but we were promptly sat our server was a very nice lady I forgot her name but she told us she was from Jesey and she was great with suggestions and even suggested a great bottle of wine..
