As an avid lover of both history and fine dining, I couldn't have been more delighted with my recent visit to this remarkable restaurant.
From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was transported back to the end of the prohibition era, where elegance and sophistication reigned supreme. The meticulous attention to detail in recreating the ambiance of that time period was truly awe-inspiring. The dimly lit room, adorned with vintage photographs, rich stylish furniture, and the soft melodies of jazz music in the background, set the stage for a perfect date night atmosphere.
To complement the alluring setting, the mixologists at 1933 House of Bourbon skillfully crafted a cocktail menu that left me in awe. Every drink was a masterpiece, artfully mixed and blended with precision. From the classic Old Fashioned, exuding notes of smoky bourbon and aromatic bitters, to the tantalizingly refreshing Rye Manhattan, each sip was a revelation of flavors, expertly balanced and served with elegance.
Moving on to the culinary delights, the assortment of appetizers was a testament to the skill and creativity of the chef. From the mouth watering crispy cauliflower which was battered in and tossed in a tangy tomato sauce, to the succulent Prince Edward Island mussels which was sauteed with tomatoes, onions, garlic and white wine and a generous amount of butter sauce and last but not least the HOB wings which was a perfect amount of brown sugar glaze and bourbon as an starter.
As for the main course entrees, I have no doubt that the chef at 1933 House of Bourbon is a true master of French cuisine. Every dish was an exquisite work of art, carefully prepared with the freshest ingredients and an undeniable passion for gastronomy. The succulent 1933 House of Bourbon pork chop marinated with garlic and thyme accompanied with a bourbon bbq sauce that is a must try.
What sets 1933 House of Bourbon apart from the rest is their unwavering commitment to creating everything from scratch. Each dish is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every element is made with love and care. This devotion to culinary excellence shines through in every bite, leaving an indelible impression on my taste buds.
In conclusion, if you're seeking a truly exceptional dining experience, 1933 House of Bourbon is an absolute must-visit. Immerse yourself in the alluring charm of the end of the prohibition era, indulge in impeccably mixed cocktails, and savor the exquisite flavors of French cuisine. Read moreAll of the food was very good except for the steak. If you want a good steak in this area, go to Moussalli’s Prime.
It’s very hard to beat Moussalli’s so understandable but the service ruined the experience.
The waitress, Danielle, was extremely passive aggressive on several occasions throughout the meal and needs some serious customer service training.
My grandmother STILL didn’t have her meal when we were about to ask for to-go boxes because of whatever excuse the waitress had. Things happen but we were about ready to leave so she very politely told the gal not to worry about bringing it (we had plenty of food, not like she was starving). Danielle came back a few moments later to say they were finally plating it and asked if she still wanted it. She responded sure, but to-go.
The waitress then took it so far as to say something along the lines of “Things happens and it’s unfortunate for the person it affects but it is what it is” in an extremely LOUD tone 🤯 just one of the many passive aggressive comments made from her. Mind you not a single one of us was rude to her for even half a second the entire dinner, regardless of her blatant passive aggression several times.
After the many incredibly odd comments she had made, we were all in such shock we didn’t say anything. But when I realized my gma was being charged for the plate I asked the waitress about it, and she responded with an “of course she’s being charged, I can’t believe you’re even asking” attitude. As if I was the crazy one for assuming the plate would OBVIOUSLY be comped. I worked in the service industry far too long, beyond unacceptable customer service.
Even at this point she still didn’t offer to loop in a manager…. We typically grossly overtip and needless to say that was not the case.
There were a few other things that happened I won’t mention.
You don’t speak down to a customer like “things happen, sorry it had to be you this time!”…. THEN charge them for a meal they don’t receive until walking out the door when they dined IN…. AND already said not to bring it out…. Common sense. Or common DECENCY! And all towards my sweet lovely granny… no ma’am.
I would be mortified if I was an owner or management knowing this behavior is happening. Do better.
UPDATE: The owner called us personally and went above and beyond to make the situation right. He even offered to call my grandmother and apologize to her personally. This really says a lot and we understand finding decent workers these days is almost impossible. We will definitely be open to give them another chance...
Read moreHighly recommend and kid-friendly! It was really hard to pick from the lunch menu, as all of it looked good...the dinner even more so. Everyone from our group ordered something different and we shared. Everything was delicious!
In no particular order, we got smoked salmon salad (what a burst of flavors and visually plated well), lobster soup, garden salad with raspberry vinaigrette (so flavorful), paneer makhani with garlic naan (fresh garlic was so aromatic, I inhaled this), kids menu chicken strips with fries, house made boozy peach ice cream (I'm dreaming of having this again), plus post meal chai (piping hot and fresh with perfect notes of ginger), and...how could I forget...barrel aged old fashion to start (so smooth)! To say we overstayed our meal is an understatement...it was pouring outside for a solid hour, but the servers and owners were incredibly kind to let us stay (and even came by to chat with us - so down to earth and kind). When my child got antsy from our extended stay, the owners suggested they could make a specialty drink: cranberry and sprite concoction! It was delicious and now a new favorite.
Overall, I would definitely go again the next time I'm in town visiting family. I would love to try more of the menu, especially their dinner menu, namely the steaks. The whole concept of bourbon storage within a restaurant is new to me but I definitely can see how appealing it is to have your own private locker. Although it looked like all the lockers were full, so clearly I'm the last to know about this and now it has me wondering, why don't more restaurants do this? Particularly to build community and repeat customer base? Genius.
Can't wait to come back. And I really hope they bring this...
