I am most reluctant to swoon over good restaurants, as most are only as good as one's last visit. And many things can ruin what is otherwise a good meal. My particular issue is how long the server takes to provide the bill; when I'm done I am anxious to get up and go. Waiting forever for a bill, or a returned credit card slip, can be as annoying as cold food--well, almost as annoying. Having eaten at the Old Mill countless times, I can say with assurance that it is one of the better restaurants in the Berkshires, and consistently so. One can eat here pleasantly time after time. White linen on the tables, an original selection of foods on the menu, all well-prepared, and often delicious, are the strong points. So is the effusive greeting of the owner, whose regular presence clearly contributes to the efficiency of the staff. And what appears to be his practice, to give diners his best - rather than worst - available table is unusual, and laudatory. But I do wish, after countless visits, he would know my name. Less strong are the prices: high 2021 all around. No reservations, so be prepared to wait, as this place is popular. But you will be called when it is your turn, one cannot buy a better place in line (as...
Read moreAmazing experience. Excellent food, welcoming and attentive staff, clean and cozy environmentâŠthis place has it all. My husband, 8 month old baby, and myself went to dinner here a few days ago after visiting Bash Bish Falls. Everyone was so excited to see my baby (who happens to be very well behaved at restaurants, despite the awkward stares and eye rolls we usually get going into a restaurant) but they were super welcoming and accommodating for us. Even had a high chair, not always common at upscale places. I ordered the halibut special and my husband got the tuna dish. We got the mussel appetizer too, which oh my goodness was so delicious!!! We each got a cocktail as well. Two drinks, an appetizer, mashed potatoes for the baby, the halibut and tuna entrees and bill was $119 before tip. Excellent place, highly recommend! We will definitely...
Read moreTwo words: Class Act. The owner/host Terry is a true English gentleman and the staff are wonderful. We, a group of four motorcyclists visiting from NYC, decided to have dinner here as it was close to our rental. It would be a while for a table as it was a Saturday night, but Terry offered to seat us at the âloungeâ area which is a comfortable dark brown leather couch amongst the tables and made sure we were comfortable and took our drink order (New Fashioned cocktail is delicious and balanced). The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Food (creamed corn chowder, Berkshire pork chop) and desserts (coffee caramel sundae!) were outstanding. We are sure to visit again. Thank you Terry and staff for an...
