Mikeska's Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in El Campo

We just left this place. The worst barbecue and sides I've ever had were 10 times better. The staff didn't seem to know the menu. "Your choice of beef, chicken, ham,sausage"..that means which one do you want !! My husband was questioned extensively and looked at with a puzzled face because he asked for brisket. The sides are unidentifiable by looks and taste. We didn't know what they were and neither did the staff. The regular plate lunch comes with 3 sides..they only gave my husband 2. I got some sort of okra concoction but the employee couldn't remeber the name of it. Absoulutly no flavor in anyrhing. We are not local and can't believe people actually pay money to eat this. Worse than any hospital or school cafeteria ever thought about being. Some sides appeared to be rather crusty. I don't know who owns this place but you need to check up on things. Representing one of the Mikeska Brothers BBQ Dynasty here in EL Campo, a devine establishment of meat has been serving the town for decades.

To say that BBQ is an acquired taste is an understatement. One could argue all day long that the BBQ he/she was raised on is the best. Having tried Mikeska BBQ across Texas, I can attest that all of it is good. But EL Campo is home and this is what I grew up eating therefore, this is the best.

The sides are homemade and amazing. Many times you find good BBQ and mediocre sides, but that is not the case here.

The staff is always friendly and service is impeccable.

Ribs were very dry had no seasoning. Mac and cheese was about as salty as the ocean. Green beans were good though. Another issue I went to go use the bathroom and had to do number 2 and there's no stall for the toilet and no lock on the door. Some old man came in and just started staring at me while I was trying to use the bathroom as well I asked him to leave and he refused. Service was fast...
