Honestly, unless somebody invites me and offers to pay for everything, I have no intention of coming back here again. Overall, we had a good experience but that's because it was a Family night AND because it was fun to make silly remarks on everything bad this place was throwing at us one by one. Here's my honest thoughts:
Aesthetic: Very beautiful and pleasant atmosphere, the place looks really nice from the inside.
Waiting time: Pretty bad, we waited about 30 minutes or more (all things considered, thats not that bad but) when we finally got in, we noticed the restaurant was HALF EMPTY. Seriously, we waited that long for a place that had every other table unfilled??? The only explanation we could think of was that they were understaffed, but we don't know.
Service: Bad. My question to the management is "how do you train new members?" I don't expect the waiters to know everything but I would expect SOME knowledge of the menu, but whatever, you could tell our waitress was new but I'm going to cut our waitress SOME slack on account that she was new.
Bus boys took forever to remove our dirty plates and they struggled to put food plates on the table because there was nonspace on account of the dirty ones not getting picked up. We had to ask for them to be picked up. Also, side note: the table next to us was dirty when we arrived AND when we left, it was never cleaned, maybe that's why we had a long wait time???
Food: Sirloin steak was a bit dry, not a lot, just a bit but honestly, I can't remember if it was ordered medium well, so maybe that's why, so it's all good, BUT what I ordered was a medium rare tenderloin tampiqueña. I asked for the rajas to be replaced with an enchilada (it comes with one so I asked for two instead of getting the rajas) and we got a $1.00 charge for that change. Question: What if I was allergic??? I'm not, but they don't know that so it feels rather unfair, but whatever, it's just a dollar. Anyway, my steak was half medium well and the other half rare, barely got any medium rareness in it.
The guacamole is like 50% avocado, 40% onion, and 10% everything else. Maybe that's not a problem for most people and YES, I am exaggerating a bit, but it's not by much.
Beans were pretty dry and the red enchilada sauce tasted like it was made from a powder. It tasted fine, but you could tell.
Drinks: Unnecessarily pricy. The piña colada margarita was somewhat tall but not that sweet, the cucumber margarita was in a glass half the size of the glass used to serve us water, but it was good. Now, the chamoy margarita was the cheapest of our drinks and ironically, the one with the largest quantity. It was basic but it tasted good.
I hope I'm not sounding too nitpicky or coming across like a difficult customer, I'm just being honest about my experience, which was overall, not that great. It was pretty bad. Not worth $150 for 4 people (4 meals, 4 drinks, and one appetizer). Go to Texas Roadhouse instead, longet wait time but better worth it, it's what we should have done. Credit where it's due though, this place is 100 times better than Villa del Mar, but that's a...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed with the service we received during our visit. We had a party of 10 and made a reservation for March 20, 2025, at 7:30 PM for my husband’s birthday. Booking the reservation was easy, and the staff member who assisted me was very kind.
We arrived five minutes early and waited in the lobby for a short while, which was fine. However, once seated, the service quickly went downhill. Our waiter took a while to take our drink orders, and when he finally did, drinks took about 10 minutes to arrive. As the rest of our party arrived, their drinks were also delayed.
Our food order wasn’t taken until 8:25 PM, and by 9:15 PM, we still had not received our meals. The restaurant closes at 10 PM, yet we were still there trying to finish our meal past closing time. Even asking for the bill was frustrating—it took over 20 minutes to receive it, and we eventually had to walk up to the waiter to pay and leave.
At some point, we were so frustrated that we considered walking out and just paying for the drinks we had. It was that bad. Even worse, my husband—who was supposed to be celebrating his birthday—had to get up and look for the manager himself just to get an update on our food. Not only did we gather to celebrate him, but it was embarrassing that he couldn’t even enjoy his own special moment.
To make matters worse, the food was not prepared correctly—some steaks were overcooked, others were undercooked despite specific requests for medium-well, and the food arrived cold. For a restaurant that is expensive and prides itself on high-quality food, this was completely unacceptable.
What’s even more disappointing is that the manager did nothing to resolve the situation. We saw him twice, and instead of taking responsibility, he blamed the kitchen staff. While I understand that mistakes happen, a restaurant should function as a team, and customers should not be left dealing with the consequences of poor coordination.
Meanwhile, other parties that were seated after us ate, paid, and left, while we continued to wait. We were the very last party to leave. From beginning to end, the service was mediocre across the board—from the waitstaff to management.
This was the worst service experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant, and we will not...
Read moreAte here for the first time yesterday during their lunch hours specials (11am-3pm). The lunch hour menu items offered were under $15 and they were full size meals, satisfying my friend who was starving. Prices on the regular menu were around $20 bucks except for the steaks which were in the price range of close to $30 & $40 depending on the cut.
Prices are comparable to Applebees & Chilis nowadays or Olive Garden. Then again, have you gone to Burger King/McDonalds/Wendys etc? If you order a large combo meal you are looking at close to $13 for fast food. I don't know about you but I rather eat at an actual restaurant.
The food was really good. The melted queso with rajas was so goooood. Enough for 3 people with some left over. My husband enjoyed his steak lunch special, couldn't finish the whole meal though due to the queso tacos we stuffed our faces with! I had the lunch special tacos and they were good but could have used a little more fat or flavor, the meat was a little dry. My friend had the lunch enchiladas and he wiped the plate clean, truly enjoyed them. The sweet tea got the approval rating of both my husband and friend and the lemonade I ordered was refreshing and homemade! My favorite.
The ambiance was nice, relaxing. The restaurant was clean, plenty of sitting room. They have another section separated by swinging doors that is the bar area. The outside has a children's playground which I found pretty neat. Let's parents enjoy their meal because the kids can use up their wild energy playing outside. The service was slow but it was just our waiter. The other two waiters working were hustling and actually took the time to help us out when our waiter was MIA (Missing in Action).
All in all, I will definitely swing by this restaurant anytime I leave Cloudcroft and come down to El Paso. Aside from the service from our waiter, everything about this restaurant was...
