Disappointing Experience at Shrimp Basket: Unpleasant Atmosphere Due to Management

I recently visited Shrimp Basket with high hopes for a delightful dining experience, given its reputation for tasty seafood. However, my visit was overshadowed by a rather unpleasant encounter with the restaurant's female manager, whose behavior left a sour taste in my mouth.

Upon entering Shrimp Basket, I was initially pleased with the cozy ambiance and the tantalizing aroma of freshly cooked seafood. The menu offered a variety of options, from classic fried shrimp to more adventurous seafood dishes. My excitement quickly waned, however, as I observed the way the female manager interacted with her employees.

Throughout my meal, it was evident that the manager's demeanor was less than professional. She displayed a lack of respect and consideration for her staff, openly berating them in front of customers. The hostile atmosphere she created was palpable, and it made for an uncomfortable dining experience. It was disheartening to witness employees visibly distressed by the manager's behavior, but not affecting their ability to provide efficient and friendly service. They still managed to make me feel comfortable, they were very good at their jobs just however the management clearly needs rework. And I even left a slightly bigger tip then normal just for this fact alone, I feel bad for the nice staff members,

What could have been an enjoyable evening was marred by the manager's rude conduct, leaving me with a negative impression of Shrimp Basket as a whole. The overall quality of the food did little to offset the disappointing service, and I found myself questioning whether the establishment values the well-being of its staff.

In conclusion, while Shrimp Basket may boast a tempting menu and a pleasant atmosphere, the behavior of the female manager significantly detracted from the overall dining experience. I hope the management addresses this issue promptly, as it has the potential to drive away both customers and dedicated employees alike.

Our server, ( Marshall I believe ) was great. So my low rating is no reflection on him. I will keep it simple. The prices are what is to be expected at the beach. The portion sizes however are ridiculously small. Family of seven, we all left still a bit hungry. Im fine with smaller portions as long as the food taste great, unfortunately it did not. The coconut shrimp was either fried too long or cooked in dirty Grease because they were very dark and extremely "crispy" . If I had to guess I would say dirty grease because the hush puppies were the same. The kids meals were okay but again not enough food there to justify $9 each. I had the two fish combo basket and again honestly there wasn't enough fish in that basket to make one full fish the size of a small bluegill. our bill was almost $ 94 plus a $20 tip total $114.00 honestly if you're wanting to have some seafood while your vacationing you are better off going to Captain D's or Long John Silver's rather than the Shrimp Basket. At least you know you will be getting your money's worth , and your food will come out as expected.

Update #2 So the GM did reach out . She offered to send us a gift card for the Shrimp Basket in the mail. I explained to her that I live in Northern Kentucky so a gift card for the Shrimp Basket would basically be useless because there are no Shrimp Basket restaurants where we live. I provided her with my address, and said that if she was truly sincere about making things right, she can send a refund in the mail. That was 5 days ago . She has not responded, just silence. My mother, sister, and I went to the shrimp basket for lunch and had a Wonderful time! My mom lost her husband recently and doesn't get out of the house much. So when we get out and go to lunch together. It's a special time with a special place in mind. My mom always chooses the place and she loves Shrimp basket! When we first arrived at the shrimp basket we were greeted with smiles and was able to sit comfortably where my mom wanted. She was so Excited! We were then greeted by our sweet and attentive waitress. Stasha! Mom ordered her favorite fried shrimp basket and fried pickles. She always likes the big basket so she can take some shrimp home for later. The service was great and the food! We felt at home and had a wonderful lunch together! 🙂 I can't Thank Stasha and her staff for their kindness and attention to such a special woman. During her difficult journey through mourning and her own frail body of pain. You were able to make her forget and enjoy herself for wonderful lunch experience! You never know someone's struggles.
