Country Donuts — Restaurant in Elgin

Country Donuts has always been one of my favorite donut shops, but today’s experience was disappointing. The high quality of their products is evident from the long lines both at the drive-thru and inside the store. Unfortunately, this location seems to struggle with leadership and organization.

I ordered a dozen donuts, a gallon of apple cider, a caramel coffee, and a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant. While everything else was prepared smoothly, the process for making the breakfast sandwich was chaotic. The employee handling the sandwiches appeared overwhelmed as other staff members kept piling on new orders without considering who had been waiting the longest.

After 20 minutes of my order repeatedly being pushed aside in favor of newer ones, I asked for a refund on the sandwich. The manager or owner, a woman with curly blonde hair, responded as if I was trying to jump the line, which was frustrating. Ultimately, I left without the sandwich or a refund.

I hope this location can address their organizational issues so that all customers can have an enjoyable experience, no matter what they order. Also, be aware that even if your order is delayed, they don’t allow customers to sit at a table or counter while waiting...

First off I have to say that I really like country donuts, super delicious but the customer service I received tonight wasn’t as great as the donuts. I live by the midway airport area (literally across the street from the airport). I drove 1.5 hours/44 miles just to come to this location. I come all that way for the sugar raised donuts. I proceeded to place my order and I asked if there were anymore sugar donuts because I noticed the slot was empty (never have I seen it empty the other times that I’ve been in), the young lady assisting me said no that there will be more later at night. I asked if there was any way she could have some prepped since I drove such a long way. With a roll of her eyes she said “no, maybe you should have called first to see if we had some”. Now why would I call a donut shop to see if they have donuts? People/customer service skills are definitely lacking with that young lady. Country Donuts is fantastic! Lots of selections to choose from! I ordered Chocolate Glazed, Sugar Glazed, and also the “Plain” one. I tried their coffee and it was great! Perfect combination! The donuts were so good, delicious, and flavorful! All of it is fresh and new. The bread is soft and tasty. This little shop gives happiness to all the people living nearby either adults or kids. Country Donuts is exceptional! A very unique shop and convenient. Their location is very accessible and they are also close to other well-known places around the area. The interior of the shop is really great, so clean, and bright. Plenty of tables and chairs. Also, the scent inside can really make your mouth water. Perfect place to go for breakfast and brunch. They also have sandwiches and other offers. Their preparation is really fast but still, the food is perfectly cooked. Country Donuts are really worth trying! This place never disappoints!
