🍩 Overview & Ambience Gerry’s is a classic, cash-only donut shop that’s earned a loyal following since opening in the 1980s . The vibe is nostalgic and no-frills—a bustling, friendly place where locals line up early for fresh baked goods. Don’t expect frills like fancy coffee drinks or credit card payments—just great donuts and quick service (). ⸻ Freshness & Flavor • Made fresh daily: Their donuts and muffins are baked on-site every morning and are gone fast—when they sell out, they’re done for the day . • Classic taste: The dense, moist texture of their donuts stands out compared to mass‑produced chains . One reviewer said they “remind me of days when donuts were made on site, and you can taste the difference” . • Variety: Expect staples like glazed, chocolate, Boston cream, cherry, apple fritters—and yes, muffins too . ⸻ Value & Pricing Gerry’s pricing is refreshingly affordable: • Single donut: ~$0.90 • Half‑dozen: ~$4.50 • Dozen: ~$8   For comparison, that’s well below typical chain prices—leading locals to say, “When the waitress tells me how much I owe, I sometimes ask ‘are you sure that’s right?’” . ⸻ Staff & Service Service is efficient, friendly, and brisk—you’ll feel the energy of a true breakfast rush. Owner Gerry often greets customers personally, adding that hometown charm (). ⸻ Crowd & Timing Expect a line early: they open at 6 AM Tue–Sun and often sell out before noon . One commenter noted, “Gotta get there early or the trays will be empty” . ⸻ Highlights & Lowlights 👍 Pros 👎 Cons Fresh, handcrafted donuts & muffins Only cash accepted Outstanding prices & value Limited seating—mostly grab‑and‑go Friendly, hometown service Popular flavors might sell out quickly Nostalgic, authentic atmosphere ⸻ Final Verdict ⭐ 4.8/5 If you love old‑school, freshly‑made donuts and muffins with real flavor and hometown charm, Gerry’s is a treasure. Just be sure to bring cash and get there early to nab the best selection. It’s worth the trip whether you’re a local or just passing through Ellington. ⸻ Would we go back?   Absolutely. The freshness, flavor, friendly service, and unbeatable prices make it a top spot—just set the alarm early!

Please make more donuts. The most common complaint in the reviews. That being said. I….. love your glazed donuts.

I’ve lived in many places around US, some places have ok donuts and some are good, but none have come close to the donuts like from those back home in Texas. Finally! Gerry’s Donuts offers what a glazed donut should taste like. Not just the taste but the texture as well which is huge! Now get this, the factor that is the icing on the …donut—the prices. In a time when everything is so expensive, not only are these donuts taste like my hometown, but the prices match the time when things were reasonable. Touching back on my complaint. I’ve never seen the racks full, the glazed donuts are the most popular and always gone course but why don’t they make a lot more? Sure I could get there early early, but even by 9:30am, 4/5 of the donuts are gone. I only got to taste the glazed after I requested a hold of half a dozen for the next day. I’m sure if they make a couple of extra batches they’d sale out quick. Anyway please make more...

Donuts are very good. It was our first time going there and the only reason we stopped was because we were on our way to Massachusetts and it wasn't too far out of our way. Coffee I got to go was terrible. Service was even worse. Some #@&%$ who must hate her job waited on us. Just because of that, we wouldn't go back. Sticking with Neil's. Oh..and for what it's worth...I don't think boxes are so expensive you couldn't have put our donuts in two small ones so all the frosting wouldn't get all over the non frosted ones. Charge people the extra twenty five cents for the box, we would have gladly paid it....BUT YOU CAN BE NICE about it. I could have also done without the God quote on the box. Hmmmm...maybe all that custom writing with bible quote makes the boxes cost more. Again, very good donuts but its also about the experience not...
