THE WORST SUSHI PLACE IVE EVER BEEN TO! We ordered a cali roll, shrimp tempura roll, rainbow roll, and miso soup. It was the most expensive sushi I have ever had and it was the nastiest un-fresh p.o.s sushi I've ever had. All our crab meat was imitation crab meat and wasn't even prepared it was still the cube of fake crab meat you buy at the asian markets and they just stuck them in our rolls. I have been to several sushi places that are way more reasonable in price AND they have REAL, not imitation, fresh fish, crab, shrimp, etc. For a place that is rated freshest sushi by san diego times and several food critiques, my boyfriend and I were more than disappointed but disgusted in how gross this restaurants sushi was. B.t.w. most nice sushi places give and appetizer roll or edamame but this place instead charges you 3.50 just for edamame. would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. There are much...
Read moreAmazing Sushi, but the staff will make you're dining experience worthwhile. If there's a seat at the bar, then I would highly suggest taking it for the full dining experience. They don't have a cocktail menu, so either you're pairing your meal with sake, beer and or wine. As for the sake we went with the bottle of junmai (cold sake) and chased it with Asahi Black. For the appetizers we went with the chicken (tatsutaage) which was cooked to perfection. Also, the mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura which was also delicious and very generous on the portion size. As for the nigiri, which stole the show for me, I would highly reccommend the ONO (wahoo) which is not found often on many menus, kanpachi (amberjack), unagi (freshwater eel), Hamachi (yellowtail) and Uni (they mainly get from Santa Barbara). I rarely come to north county, but I'll be coming more often now that I've discovered this wonderful...
Read moreLove this place. The fish is so fresh. They have some great hot food as well, but the majority of what I get is the raw fish, sashimi or sushi. It's not a roll-factory like most of the places in San Diego. (Those places are setting a weird expectation in terms of what authentic sushi or Japanese food is really like.) You won't find cream cheese and 15-ingredient rolls here. They have really fresh fish flown in from Japan or based on seasonal availability. This place is for people who are willing to try new things and are open to a changing menu. If you are looking for the standard Dragon roll special at half price, I don't think you'll be happy at this place. It's a small place, and every item is made with care so while it does not take long, you will have to have more patience than the fast-roll production lines of other places that you...
