I visited this sushi restaurant for the first time today after hearing good things about it from someone I know. The place might be a little hard to spot since the sign isn’t very noticeable—you could easily drive past it if you’re not paying close attention.
For today’s order, I got the Sushi and Roll for Two and the Chef Yoshi Roll. The sushi included tuna, yellowtail, and salmon, and the fish was incredibly fresh and flavorful. I’ve been to quite a few sushi and roll spots, but I don’t think I’ve ever come across a place in this price range that offers fish of this quality.
One thing that really stood out to me was the rice. A lot of sushi restaurants don’t put much effort into their rice, leaving it dry and hard, even when it’s served warm. Here, I drove about 20 minutes home after picking up my order, and even though the rice had cooled down, it remained soft and had a great texture.
As for the rolls, many places tend to rely heavily on spicy tuna as a base, creating overly intense flavors. This restaurant, however, seemed to focus on highlighting the natural flavors of the ingredients without overwhelming them. That’s not to say the rolls were simple—they had a complex and unique flavor profile that I really enjoyed.
I don’t usually write restaurant reviews, but I was so impressed with the food here that I felt compelled to share. The prices are reasonable, and the quality of the food is outstanding. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try—you won’t be...
Read moreI ordered here twice before, once for New Year's Eve and once for Mother's Day. The first time, I got the Rolls Deluxe platter and when we got the food, we realized almost all of the specials roll was just a California roll inside (basic imitation crab meat, avocado, cucumber) and a different fish topping on the outside. We thought that was a little funny, but nevertheless finished the meal.
Then, I decided to give it another shot for Mother's Day. This time, I got the Sushi and Rolls platter and when I saw the rolls, I was in SHOCK. It was supposed to be 2 basic rolls, and 3 special rolls. They gave us an avocado roll and another non-fish roll (I forget because I didn't even touch it) with spicy mayo on top for our basic rolls and then the special rolls were basically avocado and cucumber inside with a different fish on top (mostly tuna). Like, are you kidding lol. This platter was worth $111+ with tax and they call putting avocado and cucumber inside with a different fish on top a "special roll". And their basic rolls have no fish either. The nigiri on the other hand was fine, but to give us no fish based basic + special rolls both times is actually insane. Other places would give you spicy tuna, spicy salmon, eel and have a variety of fish on top. And the nigiri was also mostly tuna cuts which my mom doesn't even like.
It was a waste of money and definitely on the pricier side. Order platters at your own risk. I will not be ordering...
Read moreWhile I can't speak to the physical restaurant, I had the great pleasure of attending an event that was catered by SKO Sushi. They set up the space beautifully, complete with a sushi bar, backdrop, and an attendant/server who prepared plates, made recommendations, and answer questions for those who were new or unfamiliar to sushi.
I'm not new to sushi, but generally reluctant to eat raw fish due to past and unfortunate incidents related to the quality and freshness of the fish. Kiki assured me that their fresh was sourced from known sources, and though she didn't pressure me to try anything I wasn't ready for, I was later surprised to find that the raw salmon nigiri was probably my favorite among all the offerings.
Attendees were able to watch two sushi chefs expertly prepare each and every offering, and it was a treat just to watch them work. I would highly recommend SKO for any event, and can't wait to give their restaurant a try in the...
