All reviews are honest and opinions are my own.* I try to support local/small business when I can and was excited to see this adorable shop and it’s amazing ratings for this area. This is quite an adorable coffee shop; very quirky and unique. I love the way it’s heavily decorated with art, little unique trinkets and a bohemian vibe. This is the kind of shop that you can go in and knock out your homework while having some chill music in the background. It’s very clean, creative and welcoming. The staff are also friendly and attentive; everyone seems to be focused on making sure it looks presentable, the space is aesthetically pleasing and really make it an inviting place. I definitely gave them 5 stars for great customer service; I felt very welcomed and the menu is very easy to understand. I’m a categorically routine “coffee drinker.” When I am traveling, or when I’m in my hometown, I am always on the hunt for great local coffee shops with potent drinks and stellar service. So, I was pretty bummed with my drink. I ordered a hot Caramel latte with almond milk; the associate asked if I wanted whipped or espresso whip and since I’ve never had that, I said I’d have the espresso whip. The initial sip was just espresso whip and it was delicious. However, after that, it just tasted like hot almond milk. No caramel, no espresso. I really didn’t want to drink it, but I also just spent $6 plus tip and didn’t want to waste it; definitely bummed about the quality of my coffee. However, I give them 5 stars for...
Read moreMan, this place moved further down Rucker Blvd, and for a while, I thought it had closed. I visited the first time at the old location just before the owners sold it to new folks, and it was amazing. The new people seem to be upholding the top notch barista standards the old owners had, if not a little more efficient. There is an upstairs for people to enjoy their coffee and bask in the aroma of the beans, and they always offer great pastry goods to go with the caffeine kick. They offer an Arnold (Swarzenegger), with 10 shots, and a Chuck (Norris) with 8, and I got two Arnold's for me and my similarly bean-addicted friend, and it was free shot Friday. My buddy nearly had a panic attack from how juiced the cold version got him, and I fairly vibrated the way home, even with our high tolerance for caffeine. Somehow, it's never been bitter, even with that many shots of espresso, which always blows my mind. The staff were quick, but polite, even with us pushing the edge of open hours, but I was glad to introduce a new customer to the place. The old owners had a lot of pop culture and movie references (the drinks mentioned are one of the holdovers), and if there is one thing I could complain about, it was changing the font of the name. Come on: Boldly Going? Obviously a Star Trek reference, and seeing the new sign without the Next Generation styled name was a little disenheartening, but the flavor makes up for it. Best coffee shop I've ever visited in the southern half of the...
Read moreThis place has become one of my go-to coffee spots, and for good reason. They’ve got a great selection of both hot and cold coffee drinks—I’ve tried a handful by now, and they’ve all been consistently solid. My usual is the boyfriend sweater, but I’ll switch it up depending on the mood. I also LOVE that they have free shot Friday where you can get an extra shot of espresso in your drinks. Their pastries are definitely worth mentioning—fresh, delicious, and perfect for a mid-morning pick-me-up (highly recommend the stuffed croissants if you like sweet treats).
One of the things I really love about BG is how spacious it is inside. There’s plenty of seating, and it never feels cramped, even when it’s busy. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, and it even has a shelf of books and board games. They’ve also got outdoor seating, which is a nice option on a sunny day.
The only thing I would change is I would love a drive up window or a curbside options for the days I’m driving around with kids and want a quick caffeine pick me up without having to unload everyone...
