Let me start by saying our family has eaten at San Marcos dozens of times and never had the first issue. I don’t know what happened to cause such a dramatic change tonight. We were seated immediately and given chips and salsa. No one came to take our order for drinks for 10-12 minutes. That’s understandable, they were busy with other tables. We finally got our drinks and we asked for an additional basket of chips and bowl of salsa. The server left and didn’t return for 20+ minutes. Finally another server came and took our order. We asked again for the chips and salsa. Food arrives approx 30 mins later, no chips and salsa, one kid didn’t have his food at all, one kid got something completely different than they ordered, I was missing half of what I ordered, brother-in-laws steak was well done when ordered medium-rare. Still being patient and kind, we ask the manager for the one kids food and brother in law asks for his food to be sent back to the kitchen and turned down a replacement. About 10 minutes go by and the other half of my food comes along with kids food which wasn’t what he ordered. Asked for chips and salsa again. Finally got them about 2 mins after that. We never were asked about getting refills, all adults cups were empty after 30-45 mins of being there. Check came and the steak was charged. That’s not a big deal. The big deal was no one apologized, but instead acted annoyed and rolled their eyes anytime we said anything. The food was delicious as usual, but the service was ridiculously bad. Read moreSucks sucks sucks... oh... and sucks. Asked for a ground beef San Marcos Salad. Special request was to reheat the already cooked salad shell so that it would be hot. (30 SECOND DROP). Comes with chips and salsa. I live less than 5 minutes away. I told them ahead of time that I would bring it back if it wasn't right. Got My order... the shell was barely warm... the chips for the salsa wasn't warm at all. The ground beef in the salad was barely warm and no where near safe serving temp. I took it back and was told I could not get a refund because the manager was out of town I objected and said yes I could get a refund because the food wasn't to standard. They called the police on me saying I was disrespectful. (I wasn't... trust me... i really really could have been) I left immediately as I didn't want a confrontation... but I WILL be back... Read moreI debated leaving this but this is not the first bad experience I’ve had. I’ve eaten in once and ordered take out a few times. Of those, only one experience I’d rate more than 2 stars. After multiple tries here’s how tonight went.
Called the restaurant a few times with no answer. Got a text telling me to order online. Ok, I did.
Got to the restaurant to pickup the food, stood at the register waiting for someone to acknowledge me for almost 10 min. Multiple waiters who were standing and not busy refused to make eye contact with me.
After 10 min, someone comes to the front and tells me it’s not ready. After waiting a little longer (which is fine) he brought out the food and I trusted that it was correct. (I’ll take that one on myself for not checking). Got home and one meal was missing. Called the restaurant over and over with no answer. Drove back to get a refund. Guy at the register apologized and said it was is fault, gave me a refund and then I was on my way. Got back home and found out another meal was entirely wrong.
I wish this wasn’t the first time. Lesson learned, I’ll order Rodeo or La Layenda...
