Nice place, good food. The atmosphere was very nice. Old historic building, well kept and pleasant to the eyes. Tastefully decorated. We went on a Saturday evening for supper. We shared Lincoln Fries for an appetizer. They were wonderful - crisp fries, wonderful and unique flavor. Worth trying. I may get this as my main entree next time. I got the Crispy Chicken Salad for my main course. It was ok, but unimpressive (I should have gotten the cheeseburger). The chicken was dry and the salad was just lacking something. I've had better. My wife got the "Small Plate" shrimp. It was not "small" at all, but it was very good. We shared a piece of Chocolate Spoon Cake for dessert. It was quite good. Very chocolatey and rich. A touch dry perhaps. Beautiful presentation. Service was friendly and good. The kitchen was slow for some reason, and our entrees came too quickly on the heels of the appetizer, but other than that the service was good. Prices seemed a touch high, but not unreasonable. All in all, a good dining experience and we'll likely be back - perhaps at lunch. **Update: We went back as a family recently band my wife (who evidently know how to choose winners) got the BLD sandwich. I tried a few bites and it was a delicious sandwich. Shaved prime rib (think top notch cheese steak meat), with a fried egg, cheese and a hash brown. It may sound odd, and it was rather messy (egg yolk), but the combo was wonderful. I highly recommend it. Also note, we ordered it without the horse radish sauce. Update 2-2022 BLD sandwich no longer available because they no longer have all the ingredients. Too bad. I did get the pressed Prime Rib Sandwich. It was very good! For dessert we had the peanut butter mousse cake (not an exact name), it was excellent. Still a great place to go. A bit of a splurge for our budget, but...
Read moreOld Lincoln House has a tavern, Tiki bar and a Dining room. We ate in the dining room. The atmosphere is bright and relaxing although the noise from the street can be annoying. We were seated on what was formerly a porch so there was lots of windows and light. Three of us had to french onion soup. Often this is made by barely caramelizing the onions and adding bullion or a mix, that is not the case here. As you would expect it was served nice and hot with melted cheese etc. The first little tastes were encouraging as there was a nice presence of thyme (dried I believe), but once you got under the cheese, the thyme was overwhelming. Every spoonful had little splinters of thyme. The onions were caramelized very nicely, but the thyme was a little off-putting. I had the rack of lamb with mustard & herb Parmesan breading served with mushroom infused couscous, honey roasted carrots, scallions & a mint yogurt sauce; served medium rare. The lamb was acceptable although the portion was less than a rack. ($27). The sauce didn't seem to benefit the lamb in any way, I left most of it on the plate. The couscous did not seem to have a mushroom infused flavor. The large balls of couscous were well lubricated with butter, but not impressive. The carrots were sparse but tasted as described. My wife had a crab cake. She tells me that it was good, bot not remarkable. Desserts were disappointing in selection but were good. I had a chocolate mousse/chocolate cake layered creation which was quite...
Read moreWe really loved everything. It is an intimate and quiet dining experience every time we come. Such a pleasant and relaxing dining environment. Our waitress was amazing. It is one of our favorite spots when we are in town. My husband loved his Sammy Prime Rib Sandwich special (just wished the cheese sauce was warmer and onions were caramelized more). My husband also mentioned that a home made chips or kettle chips might go better with his sandwich rather than regular chips. The french onion soup was solid! So delicious and hot! It hit the spot on a chilly rainy day. My salmon with veggies were very complementary. So tasty. I only wished it came with a whipped potato, a rice pilaf or even a baked potato. Especially since it didn't come with a salad or starch. I was sort of hungry 2 hours later. We split a peanut butter pie. That was as perfect as I remembered from our last visit. And, my son enjoyed his chocolate covered strawberry ice cream. It was so yummy. We will be back next time we are in town. Thank you for the wonderful service and excellent...
