We're John and Peggy Maurana, we're both 53, married and occasionally eat out. We went to "McGarrey's Oakwood Restaurant", on Friday night and we're glad we did. The place was packed, and we had to wait a little while, but it was well worth it. Our waitress was prompt and friendly, she made us feel right at home. They have a wide selection of craft beers, which comes to you in three different sizes: a small 12 oz. glass, a larger 24 oz., and a pitcher. To be quite honest, I didn't have any beer because I'm having an operation soon on my kidney's. But, I'll give you the website at the end of this, so you could find out more detail's on the craft beer lineups and what else you can find as far as "alcohol alchemy" goes, lol. Their food was excellent and we loved their "Lenten Dinners". Even if it wasn't "Lent", we'd go there for their fish. Peggy had the "Baked Haddock" w/choice of side dish, and I had the "Fried Lake Erie Perch" w/choice of side dish. I know, I know, for my age, weight and cholesterol I shouldn't have "fried" anything, but for one last "fried" meal, before an operation was well worth it. They first started us out with a small garden salad apiece, and one small bowl filled with 2 rolls and a lot of butter. Don't know why just 2 rolls, but we weren't complaining, because we were in there for their fish. Peggy loved her 8 " long Baked Haddock; which had lemon pepper baked on it and a lemon wedge, tartar sauce and crinckle-cut french fries. My dinner came with 5 - 6 " long pieces of Perch, a lemon wedge, tartar sauce, and a small cup of macaroni and cheese. We didn't have room for dessert, but we heard they've got a great selection. All in all, this place was well worth it. It cost us around $30 for the 2 of us. But for great food and comfort,...
Read moreI have never been here until this past Saturday may 4th, I went there for the first time for my 40th birthday and wow was the the BIGGEST mistake so far in my 40s! Legit got snapped at by the waitress for not knowing what I wanted and then asking for lemon with my water, we used are manners and didn’t snip back. But good god why she felt she could talk to customers like that was beyond me! My son had ordered onion rings with his food and when his food came out he didn’t get them, he was to afraid to say anything in fear of this women snapping at him. Just her alone I won’t recommend or go back. Screw that if I want to be treated like a pos I will wake my mother from her grave.
Now on to the food… It’s a no, my chicken Alfredo had ZERO seasoning on it. Not even salt, I didn’t look to be like fresh chicken either. I was no impressed. Even Oliver garden can season the chicken Alfredo correctly 🤦🏻♀️ the house salad was mid, but I will warn you, you better know what dressing you want right away if not you will get snipped out for that also.
But still through it all we still tipped her. Hopefully in the future she doesn’t interact this way again with people...
Read moreThe restaurant was clean and staff was very friendly. It was a hot day when we visited, and the AC felt great when we first walked in, but by the end of the meal our teeth were chattering. Our food was delicious and came relatively quickly for our group of 7, but we did need to ask our waitress for drink refills. Another group similar in size to our own was seated directly next to us. There were many other empty tables that could've been given to the second group that would've given both groups more space and privacy. As it was with chairs cramped back to back, my daughter had to ask people to scooch a bit to allow her enough space to nurse her newborn, which really felt like an unnecessary ask since the rest of that side of the restaurant (as opposed to the bar side) had so many empty tables. The wait staff was very young, however, so by no means do we feel that this was an...
