Canyon Grill — Restaurant in Escalante

I’m pretty sure this is the first 1-star review I’ve ever given a restaurant. Yeah…. That bad. Ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer. It came out and everyone at my table immediately recognized the salsa as Pace Picante Sauce. The chips were the cheapest/worst store-bought chips as well. We didn’t eat them and they didn’t ask if there was anything wrong with it when they saw it had gone untouched. Not a single person in my party of 5 enjoyed their entree. Extremely low quality, bland, poorly designed (meaning what kinds of accouterments adorned the food/which flavors and spices were used)… even the fries sucked. I suppose the only nice thing that came from my visit to this restaurant is a deeper empathy for prisoners and the fare they are...

I gave it one star because there wasn't a lower rating. 30 minutes to get a glass of water. 35 minutes after that to get my salad, followed less than 30 seconds later to get my burnt to a crisp Ribeye. Was actually afraid to send it back because other customers were complaining about how slow the service was.

Their sole server was nice enough.

We decided to eat here after 3 days of camping and finishing a really tired hike. So I didn't feel like cooking what we had. It was slow getting the food out and it wasn't good. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The baked potato was under cooked and didn't have any butter. The Mac & Cheese was dry. The French fries weren't cooked well. The short cake was good.
