Visiting the Escalante area, we booked a guided tour of Dry Creek, Peekaboo and Spooky slot Canyons with Roam Outdoors, and we are super glad we did. Many positives: 1) Tyler, our guide, was excellent. He made it possible for us to do these fairly challenging slot canyon traverses. We’re a couple in our 60’s and my wife isn’t an experienced scrambler. Getting into Peekaboo is challenging, and Tyler brought a rope and provided just the right encouragement so Joan could scale the entrance. He was patient and knowledgeable. He took many great pictures for us and shared great photography tips. 2) Tyler drove us out in a cool UTV. To get to these slot canyons you have to drive 25 miles down a gravel road with plenty of washboard and the UTV could fly down the road comfortably - and kind of exciting - while driving on our Subaru would have been painful. 3) Hiring a guide made sure we didn’t get lost and were safe. We saw other people explore the slot canyons and sure it could be done - however the trails aren’t THAT well marked and people regularly get turned around. With Tyler we were sure we were on the right path and could get through the tricky spots the best way. 4) I felt Roam communicated with us well and was very professional. It just seems like a top notch operation and for us a really good value. Highly...

"The Trio of Canyons" Peekaboo, Spooky and Dry Fork Slot Canyon Tour

My experience on "The Trio of Canyons" tour with Roam was nothing short of phenomenal, and that is largely thanks to our incredible guide, Neal. I can honestly say he was the best guide I have ever had on any tour. Neal was the perfect blend of knowledgeable, confident, and genuinely down-to-earth. He kept us moving at a great pace while remaining incredibly attentive to our needs and questions the entire time.

The canyons themselves—Peekaboo, Spooky, and Dry Fork—are breathtaking. The views are absolutely amazing, and it's a wonder that this tour isn't more widely known. It's a true hidden gem.

I would advise anyone considering this tour to do a little research beforehand. There are some challenging and surprising sections, and being prepared is key. However, having a guide like Neal makes all the difference. He expertly navigated every twist and turn, ensuring we felt safe and could fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of the landscape. If you find yourself in over your head, he's the person you want by your side. I cannot recommend this tour enough, especially if you get Neal...

We did the afternoon Peekaboo, Spooky and Dry Fork Slot Canyons tour with Neal. It was a beautiful day and we were fortunate to not only be the only ones on the tour, but there were not many people out that day.

Neal was a fantastic guide. He is a very kind and personable guy, who possesses a wealth of knowledge about the area; having grown up in the area. Neal’s route for the tour is the opposite direction from that which hikers on unguided tours typically take and we were very happy with the route we took. We are seniors in good physical shape with hiking experience. The slot canyons tour can be physically challenging; however, with Neal’s guidance and assistance, we were able to navigate the entire 5 mile hike without any difficulty.

These canyons are a beautiful site and a bucket-list experience. We are so glad we decided to go with Roam for the tour and that Neal was our guide. We highly recommend Roam as a tour company and...

Stop reading the reviews and book this already! Our guide, Neal, is local to Escalante and made our adventure all the more fun! He met us with the ATV at our hotel to take us to the trails. The ride, although on dirt roads, was very enjoyable (and there’s seatbelts and handle bars just in case someone reading this feels weird about riding on one). Along the way, we learned a lot about the beautiful country that is Utah and got us safely to the trailhead. Neal then lead us through the slot canyon trails the “opposite” way than as posted on many trail direction sites, and it was obviously the BEST way! We ran into the more steep challenges at the beginning of the trail so we weren’t burned out once we got near the end. All in all, it was the best day we had on our trip through Utah and we couldn’t have experienced it like a local without Neal!
