We had high hopes for our stay in Escalante. ||The pictures in booking.com showed a wonderful cottage. ||The owners -Jenifer and Shannon- have two cottages : The Barn (the pics we've seen) and the Wild West Retreat. ||We thought having booked The Barn, but ended up in the WW Retreat. ||Jenifer admitted that the pics in booking.com are confusing. ||So after the initial disappointment of getting into the Wild West cottage, we 'settled' and explored the cottage. ||For many people this may have a lot of charm, but for us it didn't . If you pay 220$ a night, you expect a place to stay with all modern comfort, a modern spotless clean well equipped bathroom, a wide bed with an excellent mattress, an excellent breakfast, etc etc.... ||If you prefer all these then do not go to the Wild West Retreat. ||If you prefer to step back in time and experience how people lived 60 years ago, then go here. ||For us, it was disappointing and definitely not the kind of place we like to go.
