Tradewinds @ Jiffy’s Cafe & Bottle Market — Restaurant in Eugene

This has been one of my favorite restaurants in town for the past year but yesterday the staff was abhorrent and I won’t be returning. I went with a group of friends from school but brought a sack lunch to save money. The staff that brought out my friends’ food was judgmental and aggressive when telling me not to bring outside food, scoffing and throwing up his hands. Nothing wrong with this policy, but there are absolutely no circumstances where it’s acceptable to treat patrons this way. Even if you’re having a bad day, get it together and treat people kindly. I didn’t mean any disrespect by bringing my own food. The guy could’ve considered the context of why I brought lunch and displayed compassion when asking me not to, instead of scolding me in the middle of a restaurant like I have no morals. I would've liked to address this is in the moment but I was surprised and livid, and afraid I would say something stupid or mean back. I've been coming here for 6 years, and they've been consistently good, until recently. The food quality is not as great as it used to be; crumbly, dry falafel and moldy dolmas most recently. I've been given stale iced tea the last 2 times, both when ordered lavender, minus the lavender. But more than anything, the owner is clearly over worked, stressed out, seemingly angry, annoyed, frustrated, etc. And her vibe is clearly upsetting and stressing out her employees. High turn over rate suggests a correlation. Today she was especially ughhhh to her poor employee. Ma'am, I feel you may be burnt out and might need some help with your ownerly duties. I'm not sure why it took me so long to try this place, its pretty amazing. I have to come back and sample the Greek food, this time, on a recommendation, I came for the Reuben. I try Reubens all over the area, some around here are passable, some are awful.. At the Tradewinds they are nothing short of amazing! Sure, were not in New York, I've no idea what they are like there, but for Oregon the Ruebens at this place are absolutely wonderful! Came with fries, which were hot, and yummy as well!
