During our recent trip to the Redwood Forest, we stayed in Eureka and happened to stumble upon an absolute gem of a Mexican restaurant. Coming from an area known for its wide variety of Mexican eateries, we weren’t expecting to be so thoroughly impressed, but this place completely blew us away.
The food is unbelievably flavorful, fresh, and rooted in rich traditional recipes. I had the special of the day, chile verde, and it was nothing short of amazing. Each bite was packed with depth and perfectly balanced spices. Our family members ordered burritos, and everyone at the table was raving about how delicious they were.
The service was equally outstanding. Our waitress was warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. Since we were traveling with our dog, our group had to split between indoor and outdoor seating, and she made sure everyone felt welcome and well taken care of.
The chef’s talent is undeniable, every dish tasted like a labor of love. The restaurant also has plenty of parking, which made the visit even more convenient.
If you're in the Eureka area and looking for truly authentic Oaxaqueñan food, this place is a must-visit. We can't...
Read moreWe cannot recommend Cocina Oaxaquena enough!!! We ordered the huevos a la Mexicana with asada and two al pastor tacos, and let me just say - these were the best al pastors we’ve had in over four years! Having lived in DC and Seattle, we’ve missed the authentic Mexican food from South Texas, and this was not only as good but maybe even better than what we remember from back home.
On top of the incredible food, their espresso and drip coffee were absolutely perfect. They even gave us horchata with both - and let me tell you, the dirty horchata was hands down the best I’ve ever had. We’re still thinking about it!
To finish off, we had their chocolate flan, which was out of this world. It was the perfect end to such an amazing meal. We are so happy we stopped here on our Redwoods road trip and can’t rave enough about the experience. Thank y’all so much for such delicious food and...
Read moreRay, his wife and his waitress give his customers excellent service. Good flan, chicken molé, enchiladas, quesadillas, and breakfast is good, as well. Ray makes his own delicious corn tortillas, so soft and yummy. Good espresso, everything I've had here is super delicious. My son loves the tortas, and breakfast burritos. My sister said her breakfast burrito was the best she's had. The green salsa, which Ray makes is delicious. I usually have him grill me a chili 🌶️ or two. Since I can only pick whether I had breakfast, lunch or dinner, I chose breakfast, but I've had lovely dinners here, as well. Can't say enough great things about this little Oaxacan restaurant, except I wish they were open...
